Welcome to the Ultimate list of my most hated enemies in various Nintendo videogames! The ones on the list above aren't just tough to beat enemies, or ugly enemies, but the ones I really despise facing in various games, and for good reason. Well, onto the long list:
1- Redeads and Gibdos, nearly all Legend of Zelda games
Okay, there is no easy way to describe how much I hate these evil, evil monsters in The Legend of Zelda series, and how disgusting their attacks are. What I can say though, is as well as the annoyance of having high health, they are often found in creepy tombs, deserted towns and gloomy dungeons, screech so loud that as well as Link being paralysed, you get scared to the worst degree and their attacks are just.. disturbing to think about...
2- Mad Piano/Pianoforte
Ah yes, the totally monstrous killer piano from Super Mario 64, the one enemy that will startle anyone playing Big Boo's Haunt for the first time, and the monster I'm glad made no comebacks. This is an evil piano that attacks when you go near, showing it's horrible teeth, and trying to rip Mario to pieces. Plus, it's the second enemy that scares me too much to ever approach, and even less with the sound effects on.
3- Blue Bubble
The other bubbles are annoying, but these are the worst. They are floating skulls with a creepy blue aura round them, and when touched, curse Link and cause the controls become reversed. Plus, their laughs creep me out, plus how seemingly innocent skulls spring to life and float around.
4- Gleeock
The horrible four headed dragon from the original Legend of Zelda, this dragon is the most difficult boss in the original game. Not only does the monstrosity breath fire as it's main attack, but it's disembodied heads float around the arena, shooting fireballs at the hero.
5- Gohma
You may wonder why Gohma, the most pathetically easy boss is on the list. That is because, in The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker, the boss is a whole lot tougher than it's older counterparts, and more of a jerk. You have to first make the roof fall on the creatures head, and THEN attack the eye, stopping it being defeated as easily as I would have like it defeated.
6- Snake Puppet Ganon
Puppet Ganon alone is a right pain in the neck, but this version is the most awful. Form 1 is a pain, 2 is easy but 3 is ridiculously tough, which is because the creature zooms around the arena, unstoppable unless you stun it for a second with the Master Sword, and you then still need to shoot it in the tail three times.
7- Monty Tank
The most annoying boss in New Super Mario Bros, this boss drives around while shooting Bullet Bills out the cannon, and throwing bob-ombs. The one boss some people may die to accidentally, the boss has a known problem of shooting enemies which kill you as you beat him, making you start all over again (it happens).
8- Unagi the Eel
The eel from Jolly Roger Bay is the monster that quite a few people online are scared of, partly because it is another realitistically themed enemy, based on a real kind of sea creature, and the way it guards a few stars makes it seem worse than it is.
9- Manta Storm
Possibly the most aggravating ghost boss in existance, this is the giant 64 ghost strong Manta Ray creature which plagues Sirena Beach in Super Mario Sunshine by spreading electrofied gunk, and attack random things, from buildings to plubers! It is extremely annoying, and very high on this list, as it is extremely difficult to beat, and when near the end, turns into small purple manta rays which aim to directly destroy Mario.
10- Aerodent
A slightly annoying boss in Wario Land 4, this just beats Cractus for most irritating boss to defeat in Super Hard Mode. Partly because you have low time, need an item to succeed properly and it drops fireballs on the floor which have Wario running around aimlessly for 3 seconds in flames and unable to attack.
11- Battle Koopa from Wario Land Super Mario Land 3
Okay, this is probably the toughest monster in the history of tough boss battles Mario wise (and Nintendo wise I guess). It is the first boss in Wario Land Super Mario Land 3, and however broken this sounds, is actually the TOUGHEST boss in Wario Land, even beating the World 5 ghost boss and the final boss! Well, his attack pattern was a pain. He first landed on the floor, then you got the chance to attack (if you were big). Then, he chased you in his shell for about 10 seconds, by which time any modern day player would have been long dead, then went above the ceiling, chased around, and smashed down, then below the floor, smashed upwards and the cycle repeated itself. nd worse, if you were small, you may as well die soon to avoid the tremendous difficulty of the battle, as you would have to jump into him as he came down to defeat him while small, and repeat that twice while avoiding his attacks.
12- Ghost in Wario Land
Ah, the extremely tough and boring level is made even worse by this thing. Not only do you have to go all the way through a long forest level of falling spiked balls, enemies and a thunder cloud zapping everything at random, but then go into a tomb and defeat the most annoying boss ever. His one attack is paralysing you, so the small ghost heads can attack with spiked faces. It's worst when you are stuck in the air too.
13- Bomb Bat
Not really that common, but still a major pest. Ah, the fact it goes in a pattern, then right into your hand! You can't throw the thing as well, so if you hold it while powered up, you become small, if you are small.... you get blasted!
14- Kabomb
These are supposed to be nicer bob-ombs, but the game programmers failed miserably at making these less harmful. They happen to be in one level, where volcanos erupt every three seconds, and lava smashes apart chunks of the level and floor, and when hit, turn mad and run at Mario! Right nuisance when mini or small I'd say. The Lava does not help this one bit...
15- Phanto
The key guard in Super Mario Bros 2 USA, these ghosts follow you through the whole level until you reach the locked door and enter. Plus, they can only be killed with a star, which unfortunately, is very rare. Don't even ask about the possessed door in Wart's castle that acts the same way and functions as a second boss...
16- Flying Gyorg
Okay, The Minish Cap had quite a few annoying enemies, but this is the worst. You have the delicate task of attacking various eyes on some gyorgs, and you need to use three clones to help you. They disappear when his by anything. Now imagine you are being bombarded with attacks from the other gyorg and small green ones, and you get how annoying this is. Plus, you aren't on a platform, but ON the creatures when they are flying...
17- Black Knight, Minish Cap
The most difficult to beat Darknut, the second occasion you fight him wants to make you break your GBA/DS. You literally have about 10 seconds to beat him and two others, before a bell times for the third and final time, destroying Princess Zelda and causing the all annoying 'GAME OVER' screen. Plus, you have to hit him from behind, or the side, and when he is about to attack....
18- Dark Fog from Wario Land
Or, if you prefer, a screen of total darkness. You basically have to go through a whole level, avoiding this enormous fog, lined with instant kill spikes, and there are blocks and enemies to beat everywhere. All I will say is that one wrong move... and Wario ends up skewered.
19- Dead Hand
If this was the ugliest monster in a game award, this thing would most probably win. It's some kind of zombie creature, living in a dank cave room in a haunted well filled with redeads, gibdos, bubbles, wall masters and blood, and has about 10 hands coming out the ground in various parts of the room. Plus, if it catches you, it then starts biting Link's head in a very strnage way (but probably not as bad as redeads do).
20- Skeleton Zombie Ghoul
If you wonder why I didn't put Wall Masters in the list, or deadly cuccos from The Legend of Zelda games, think about this for a moment. You get shot randomly and turn into a zombie. You fall, kill about four enemies and land in the light. As you go get the money that you should have got by killing the monsters, it vanishes because you're too slow. This thing keeps costing me perfect coin scores in Crescent Moon Village in Wario Land 4, in Super Hard mode. And I hate it more than Wall Masters as they are cool enemies, not just some annoying pest which gets in the way of success!
