Teenagers are Innocent!
Why do people always blame teenagers for absolutely everything? After reading the papers and watching TV very recently, I want to know exactly why the media seem so happy to blame teenagers for everyone's problems in the world. And hopefully, this article should clear the name of teenagers across the world...
Ironically, this stereotyping has got to a new low. You are much less likely to see the words 'Teenager saves failing school' than you are to see the lines 'Teenagers beat up someone for mobile phone'. But this is ridiculous. How many teenagers do you think actually commit crimes? Now, consider and compare this to the number of adults who are criminals. Notice anything? Well it depends on who you listen to. If you are able to be brainwashed by the media, the answer seems to be more and more teenagers turning to crime etc. But is this true?
The general ages of most criminals are around 17-29 or so, which seems to suggest they are teenagers. But this is wrong. Those kind of people are young adults, not teenagers, yet it is the teenage population which suffers because of them. And the media who seem to seize this publicity to try to turn people against them and other easier targets. These seem to include the following:
Television. Not content with trying to turn back the clock 100 years, they seem to use this a lot as a target.
Videogames.
Music now days
Bad teaching in schools
Hooded jumpers
I have no words for this other than purely based on bias. Practically no schools are helping cause this, yet they get blamed for no reason. The programs are television are generally harmless, yet the few that are supposed to show bad behaviour are used to twist the whole story around and pretend that all TV is bad. The music is always blamed, yet no crimes I can name have been caused by this. And the jumpers with hoods seem to be such a target for blaming all this on, that places are banning them! What about the majority of innocent teenagers who wear them? Or the actual companies that make them, or the shops that sell them? Has anyone figured this remarkable flaw in this idea of banning them at shopping centres, that shops selling them are inside and trying on a jumper could get you banned for life or kicked out?
A school has even banned them! This could cause major troubles before a non-uniform day, where the school may well find half of the teenage students will wear the things! To be more blunt, people are encouraged not to wear them or are prevented from going into shopping centres with them, but you will be hard pressed to find a shop selling a non-hooded jumper in this day and age.
The Criminals aren't teenagers?
Yes, you got that right. More crimes, I believe, are caused by adults, who are seen as more mature! And how's this for a case where teenagers were wrongly thought of as criminals, until the true criminal was caught...
For months, motorists were pestered by mysterious vandals. The police originally thought that the crime was the fault of a gang of teenage boys. But when the police tracked the mystery criminal by using evidence that was flakes of paint, the vandal turned out to be an 80 year old woman! This story, however unlikely is true, and it was indeed an 80 year olds fault. But as usual, the public blamed the teenagers. The actual crime I read about in a book called 'Craft Crime-busting' in the Knowledge series, and is a key example of how the most unlikely suspects can be to blame, and how teenagers are often seen as the suspects.
On another note, who actually caused so much trouble in the world, the end of the world nearly occurring twice and many many wars? Not teenagers, but adults, and yet the media still has the cheek to call teenagers bad, or misbehaving.
What does it matter? Does it effect the teenagers?
Well, for one, we are losing our freedoms. Having no study leave because of misbehaviour wrongly associated with the teenage population. Things getting banned because of such 'links to this rebellion'. But do you know something that is actually important? Who ruined the world as it is now?
