Super Mario Galaxy Review by kyledude92107
"At last, after many years of waiting, Nintendo has finally given us another proper Mario game. I saw Super Mario Galaxy and decided to pick it up with some skepticism, as I figured it wouldn't be nearly as good as Super Mario 64. Boy, was I wrong. This game will have you captured in a world of amazement and awe for quite some time and you'll keep coming back for more. Now... On with the review!
STORYLINE:
This is the same as any other Mario game. What can I say? Peach invites Mario to the Star Festival to sightsee whilst fireworks light up the sky, promising she has something she would like to give to Mario. Mario begins skipping down the lane leading to the castle, with his arms outstretched like an airplane. He finally gets to Peach's castle and... Bowser once again Swoops in to steal Peach. As predictable and aged this may be, some things never get old. 9.5/10
GAMEPLAY:
This may be one of the places where this game shines the most. Nintendo has once again incorporated ingenious controls into yet another one of its games. Moving Mario does not feel forced or choppy as it did at times in Super Mario Sunshine and even at times in Super Mario 64. Mario responds quickly and flawlessly to every command you might have in store for him. Gone are the days of breaking your controller over trying to perform a side-somersault. Gone are the days off delayed ground-pounds. Every movement was spectacularly mapped on the Wiimote and the Nunchuck.
Attacking is also quite simple to carry out. Instead of simply making the A or B Button the attack button, Nintendo made the command for a spin attack a simple flick of the wrist. This allows you to focus on the next obstacle or the next jump instead of worrying about whether or not you will get killed by an enemy on the next platform. Not quite innovative, but it gets the job done.
The co-op is also a very nice touch Nintendo added to this game. The player with the second controller simply sweeps his or her cursor over any star bits covering the vast landscapes of Super Mario Galaxy to pick them up. They can then use the B Button to fire them at enemies. Just make sure you're on the same page with your helper, that way they won't waste all of your star bits. I give gameplay a... 10/10
GRAPHICS:
From the moment I turned the game on and stepped into the Gateway Galaxy, I was left breathless by th amazing, smooth graphics that Nintendo managed to produce for this game. The water effects instantly awed me with their smoothness and reflectiveness and the particle effects are simply amazing also. The game looks great anywhere you play it. Whether it's on AV cables or Component cables, this game looks nothing short of simply amazing. The character models, the landscape and the light from a Power Star lighting up your character's clothes... Everything will amaze you. Also, if you have a Component cable like I do, the game just sounds and looks even more amazing. Have an HDTV AND Component cables? Boy, you're in for a treat that is nothing short of amazing and will likely leave you breathless.
The graphics get a...

MUSIC/SOUND:
This is also awe-inspiring. All of the music is masterfully performed in this game... Once again, Koji Kondo, Kenji Yamamoto and Mahito Yokota have outdone themselves quite handily. From new and modern music to revamped versions of classic Mario music, every music piece in this game is masterfully conducted. Mario's voice (Recorded by Charles Martinet) and Luigi's voice (Also recorded by Charles Martinet) sound great in this game, along with Peach's voice. (Recorded by Nicole Mills)
