NintenDan's First Weekly Article

Hello fellow readers, and welcome to what I hope to make a popular weekly article at DS Ultimate, which will be circling around the "oh-so favoured" topic of Shy Guy! But before I start rambling on about Shy Guys and the like, I feel it is only natural to make the first issue an introduction to the author, whom is NintenDan. So I'll start off with the basic information.

I, NintenDan, am a member at the DS Ultimate Forums ever since the late 2006, I believe I joined in September 2006 to be precise. Those were happy days, those were. Sure, the layout wasn't the greatest colour in the pencil case, but it was the members and fun to be had that mattered most. In December or so, cheat-master30, (the administrator of the forums and webmaster for the main site) announced that the forums were getting a makeover. I was surprised and happy to say the least. The change occured conveniently on New Year's Day, the 1st January 2007. This seemed like a great New Year's Resolution, and I decided I would make one too by submitting as much content as I could and help out the forums whenever I could. It took me a while to realised the new forums were up as I was busy playing with presents, but I was the 8th member to join, which makes me feel special. I started my resolution when cheat and others were discussing about smilies and what ones we would get. I had a brilliant idea. I would use my Mario Hoops 3 on 3 game which I had gotten that Christmas to make some smilies! How, you ask? By simply looking at the image on the screen, and then re-drawing it on the computer, pixel by pixel. Each image took a fair bit of time, but in a week or two I had finished a complete set of Mario smilies, from Mario and Luigi to Bowser and Boo. Cheat was very impressed, to say the least. As the days carried on, cheat even began to make smilies of his own as well, and each week a handful of smilies were being thrown out everywhere for members to enjoy. As the year continued, I couldn't help but gladly notice how well I had gotten at making smilies. Looking at my earliest work, the famous head of Mario smilie, I compared that to a newer and better looking Yoshi I had made out of sheer boredom, and the differences were amazing.

But onto some more interesting things, here we are now, halfway through the year 2008 and I've continued to make smilies ever since that very day. And I plan to go on and do so, just not as frequent... (Yes, that's mostly due to laziness...). But I have DS Ultimate to thank, because without that, I would never had improved on my Paint skills. I'm not the greatest spriter in the world of the Internet, but I sure have gotten a heck of a lot better than what I was like in the early days.

Aside from the history, though, I'll continue my autobiography. I am guite the avid Shy Guy fan, as you may have noticed if you have seen my avatar and signature on the forums. (If you haven't seen them, check them out now!) In fact, I'm in love with Shy Guy so much, members (mostly cheat, the admin) have called me insane! Speaking of which, questioning one's insanity is not a cool thing to do. Just a heads up about that. Especially at school, don't do it at school... moving on, I also used to make comics back in the days, I think I made around 4 - 5 series, with an extra 2 being flops I think... *Shudders at the thought of that unfinished Metroid Prime Hunters comic*. I also made a lot of other neat and basic things for the forums. This includes some parody ads, other member's signatures, a Super Mario Bros. Level Editor, the list goes on. But by far my most greatest achievement would have to be The DS Ultimate One Year Anniversary video. That's right, I forced myself through 4 weeks of non-stop torture to bring my fellow members a look back at the year that was. It included an entire member list, some random posts, and awards, some of which are still yet to be claimed... people must've missed the announcement or something. Or the notification in the actual video itself...

I guess, if you wanted to some up what sort of member I am, I think most people would say that I'm a commited and dedicated member who gives it their best at whatever it is, with it usually ending up in a great outcome. Not just saying that either, I truly think that's what most members would say.

Well, now that the introduction is out of the way, I suppose I should give you a taste of what to expect from this. What I'll be writing about is really just whatever is on my mind at the time. It can be very serious to just random dribble that comes out of my brain, sent down my nerves to my fingers in a fraction of a second or two, and then typed up on the keyboard. So enjoy, stick around, and take out the time to read what I hope is to become a fairly popular article among the site. Buh-Bye for now, but remember this piece of wisdom:

"Once a Shy Guy, always a Shy Guy"

From the Guy to the Shy, this is NintenDan signing off or something. I dunno, I just wanted to sound cool. Stop laughing. Seriously, though, teasing isn't funny. Especially if it's to elders. Respect your elders kids. And if you ARE an elder, than take advantage of all that respect and "Shy Guy-it" right into their face.
