A re-review of Warioware Touched

This game can be extremely humiliating. And yes, it is one of those games, while extremely fun that should really not be played in public places, for the probability of you getting mocked is incredibly high. That said, this game is awesome in many ways, and this review should persuade you to buy the game right today!

Graphics

Now in this department there is only one word I can say to describe this game. Functional. In English, the graphics are not amazing by a decent way, but are also not bad. They are hilarious graphics for sure (well a game requiring you to poke cats in the face and pick noses has got to have some pretty hilarious graphics to go with it), but they are not amazing in the same way as Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS or Metroid Prime Hunters, all of which easily push the top range of graphics on the DS, and are a lot better than this. But however, because of the type of game, this matters not.

Sound and Music

Very varied, and extremely different to say the least. There are a good variety of music themes in this game, and while you will like some more than others depending on your personal tastes (and those also dictate whether you would like the Jukebox toy in the game as well), they all fit the scenario in the very strange mini stories rather well, and certain provide quite a light hearted atmosphere. Sound effects are decent enough, and go with whats on screen well. And voices, while okay, have the usual problem of getting a little annoying fast.

Storyline

First things first. This has no full storyline. In that sense, there is not a global storyline stretching from the beginning to the end of this enjoyable game, but a variety of slightly connected (slightly is the word here) storylines revolving around different issues for each character in the game. The individual storylines are good overall though, and do throw in a few pieces of humour at certain points (and in that sense, character and place names are extremely exaggerated to fit kind of character/place stereotypes to an extent as well, and by reading some names carefully, you may get the joke).

Gameplay

Now all of the above would probably be extremely irrelevant to the score if the gameplay was not up to scratch, or fun. This is because I am not an IGN or Gamespot reviewer, and I don't personally care about giving games praise for graphics, or music, but rather how they play. However, the game is fun. In a wacky, over the top sort of way. The whole concept as it clearly is stated is that the whole gameplay of the game, and the series in general is made up of a series of short, five second microgames, based around one instruction, such as jump to hit a block, or shoot something, or move some objects from A to B. This would get boring after a while if the games were not varied, but there are around 200+ in this game, and there is enough variety to keep even the most boring gamer occupied. It is also suprisingly addictive trying to beat the high scores you personally set, and gets rather fun when playing for the first time. The only thing that must be considered is that after the first time, the game is best really played in short bursts at a time, as you will get either extremely bored or frustrated trying the same old thing time and time again. It's still fun though, and worth playing for that alone.

Length

The real and only downfall. It is far too short for many people. With only about 8 sections of about 10-15 5 second games making up the main storyline of the game, it will be over quickly for the casual gamer, and while the attempts at unlocking secrets and getting high scores on toys will keep many playing a bit longer, you should not really expect this type of game to last longer than a few hours, as I personally beat it in about 4 or 5 hours, even though it was my first ever Warioware game and I just played it out of interest one night. Still, it will last a decent, while short time, just not as long as many of the other Nintendo DS games made or published by Nintendo.

Overall

I would personally say to buy this game if you want hilarious but short fun via a quick game that relies purely on reflexes in the long run. However, if you want an adventure game, or a very long game, titles such as Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario 64 DS or Mario and Luigi Partners in Time may be better.
