Test Levels

There have been many test levels found in various games, some of which are Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64 DS, Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. For the Ocarina of Time beta information, I suggest Zelda's Secret Ocarina, but for the rest, look no further as you've found the best page on the suject!

Super Smash Bros Melee Test Room

There are two test areas in Super Smash Bros Melee which can be messed around in, and one which was removed. The removed one is called 'Dummy' on the Debug Master Control Menu, while the other two are a beta Target Test area and TSEAK, which according to rumour is meant to be Shiek's Target Test Level.

The Beta/Test area which is biggest and more significant is a long grey series of platforms which stretch for ages. There are numerous platforms in here, and gaps, and the background is somewhat odd:

Yes, the background is based on a real world coffee shop or pub, with people being faintly visible as they sit around tables in the distance below, signs, a counter and even a window to a main road kind of street. Here, I think it was supposed to be the original Target Test for Mario, and it also raises this question:
Does the background have any significance? This is interesting to wonder about as according to the beginning movie, the characters are actually trophies kind of made real, so does the background way below this arena give some kind of perspective? As of now, I do not know.

The other area is TSEAK. It is basically one target test platform above the usual void with three targets. Break them all to end the stage. There isn't much to see here, but here's a photo anyway:

Super Mario Sunshine

There is one sole level in Super Mario Sunshine which is a test level, and this is it. The level itself generally has all the usual stuff, which happens to be a shine which is blue (unknown whether this would be different if you had zero shines), every type of fruit, mesh with two gates, a rope, fire, a cloud which gets bigger when you shoot water at it, various green puddles of liquid, signs and some Piantas plus Nokis.

The Noki is quite interesting, as when you clean him, he's actually part invisible! Plus, the message that comes up is a very interesting:
ERROR- MESSAGE COULD NOT BE LOADED!
This obviously proves there was once a message while the game was being tested, but the programmers removed it after testing was over, without moving the rest of it.

And of course there's Yoshi, in an egg of course, who you can ride like normal.

Super Mario 64 DS

While I do not have access to the level partly because I am not a hacker, here is a video of someone playing around with the test level, after accessing it by hacking the game.

Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker Test Levels

1- I'm not even going to try mapping out this vast area, but it has a whole lake
in the test area with the King of Red Lions floating in the water! There is
also a massive doored place with a heart piece in a chest, and many slopes where
Link slides about randomly. There are also strong currents in the lake, and one
of the walls is climbable. Entering a door freezes the game.

There are also many other things here, like crawl space tunnels and grappling
hook targets, but that would take up like half a megbyte of FAQ listing them!

2- Straight ahead there is a large pit. And across that is a wooden barricade
you can smash through. There are swinging lights on ropes for you to use, and
there are bomb plants growing on one of the walls. There's also two more
barricades and a big pile of stone blocks to push around here.

3- This is a chest testing level, where treasure chest are tested. But don't be
fooled, only 1 rupee is in each chest. You can also get here from another test
level to boot. The chests from left to right are:
3 normal chests
2 invisible chests
1 spikey chest
1 valuable item chest
6 normal chests
1 spikey chest
1 valuable chest
1 normal chest

And there's also a big knight statue and a triforce isignia which makes a chest
appear.

4- This is a blank level which just has some pirates, a guy who makes Boko Baba
magic potions, Orca and a single non-collectable knight's crest.

5- This is the first enemy testing room. There are some peahats, two stalfos, a
red bubble, a blue bubble and some morths. Odd thing is, some morths are
actually on the wall!

6- This is another interactive object testing level, with all the interactive
objects you can imagine. These include:
both types of beamos
Boko Nuts on vines
3 types of wooden barrier
kangaroc nests
floating tree trunk platfroms
launcher
Boko Baba
Pots
pots with water in
eye switches
moving platforms
crates of two kinds
Switches
Beta object! There are two birds which can land on Links head when he moves!
treasure chest with key
stone wall
scales
ladders
bomb plants
statue
2 boko nuts with 1 rupee in each
1 with 50 rupees in
1 with 10 rupees in
laser force field

7- This is the people testing room. And there are many different people here
like the two girls rescued from the Forsaken Fortress (while poor and rich), the
three goron traders, the rich guy who likes skull necklaces, the poor guy who
complained you smashed his vases when he was rich, the chief Rito and the
teacher from Windfall Island.

8- I so hate this level, as there is a red bubble and worst of all, a redead,
which is right in front of you! Bad memory of pressing R, forgetting I had the
R to run code on and going into the redead causing screaming which scared the
heck out of me! Still, this area has keese, magtails, armos knights, Bokoblins,
morths, and even a boko baba! Still, I hate that redead...

9- This is another interactivity testing level and has the following stuff
inside the area:
flaming torches
statues gust of wind
Iron boot launcher
fan
iceberg
plant
stone head
possible spinning top like beta object
pots
fairies
sun symbol wall
sand statue
spin switch
song enscribed wall
coffins
light beam
sun statue
bomb plants
10- This is yet another interactivity test room, with similar statues, pillars
and some decorative rupees.
11- This has go to be the most packed test room for characters ever! There is
every non-important person from Windfall island here, as well as the guys in the
