View Full Version : Did this game die or something?

I mean, everywhere I look on forums for this game they're either dead or just a load of random clan advertisements. I guess then you may say the popularity and fad like enjoyment of this game has seemingly passed, and everyone has either moved to the Wii, various newer DS games or Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

I agree. This place seems to have lost it's novelty... which was a Metroid Prime on a portable console. Well, I play it on occasions if I feel like a good shoot-up!

I seem to have forgotten about this game myself, sadly. It's a great game though.

Already dead? That was quick...
Just this game at other forums seems more like a clan gathering forum than anything.

What do you mean? Nsider or IGN? No either way though, because:
Nsider- Don't live in US, don't like the staff.
IGN- I refuse to pay for membership benefits or such. It goes right against what the founder of the internet said about it.

This is how I see online games:
When a new game comes out, everyone flocks to it. This is bad and good. Good cause you have new people playing all the time. Bad because it attracts hackers, cheaters, and people who simply don't play fair. After a while, the game gets boring for everyone, so people slowly leave it to play other games.
Once a new online game comes out (like Pokemon), everyone flocks to that game and the other online games "die" out, leaving only veterian players and/or hackers. Then the cycle repeats for every online game that comes out after that.
In Hunters' case, it was somewhat dead because of soooo many AR users, but once Pokemon Pearl and Diamond came out, everyone pretty much left Hunters in the dust, which explains why I get lots of hackers in random matches and is very difficult to have 3-4 players in a round.

The same seems to have happened with Mario Kart DS as well to a good extent. Sigh, when a game gets popular, the community around it is so great, but then it dies out and all that are left are veterans, knowledgeable in the subject.

Those two statements are the best I've ever heard! They are both so very true!

Thanks, and I agree with that. Seems like a pattern not only with popular online games, but also popular things in general.

I heard that Metal Gear Solid 3's online servers were shut down after the game lost popularity. That could happen to some Nintendo games if no one plays them anymore.

Mario Kart DS will likely be quite soon actually, as will this game if it gets even less active. And the really inactive game servers I assume will be down very soon.

Or maybe not. Nintendo obviously works differently and I bet Mario Kart DS is still active with online players (I still get plenty of people to play there, where with MPH, it's a struggle to get 3 people), so they may keep the games going for a while longer.

Yeah, but how long do you think people will go online for a third party movie tie in game for example? Some of those even have wifi.

The same people are probably building it, but Nintendo often don't reuse stuff from past games. And for some reason, they often don't use other companies inventions, regardless of how good the enemies/items/areas/bosses/characters are!

27th May 2007, 05:27 AM
Well, that's kind of good, as they're ideas are all original. And Metroid 3 most probably won't have previous hunters, as I looked at a display box, and there was nothing mentioned about them. But, the gameplay will be good, no doubt!

Actually, there are exceptions, as I think Mario kart DS was released everywhere at the same time or something, and Mario Strikers Charged was released in Europe first.
What about poor Australia and those here from there (I think Generic and such like)?

Ah yes, Australia... so very slow and behind the latest trends... sniff... still, I get used to it.
