In Super Mario 64 DS, in a course called Big Boo Battle, the boss seems to be a Boo wearing a crown. Some people seem to think this is Big Boo, based only on a line said by the character, but I think otherwise.

For example, note how King Boo looks the same as this boss (basing off the character model from Mario Kart DS). He is also wearing a crown and is referred to as King Boo by many sources.

So do you think the below character is Big Boo or King Boo and explain why:

It's because of the storyline in Luigi's Mansion, and how King Boo did not exist in the Nintendo 64 era.

The character idea was not around then, so there was only a larger boo for a boss. But now, there are King Boo and the original Big Boo which is still a boss because the game is a re-make. Should have replaced Big Boo with King Boo fully though.

Agreed. The Mario series has had such a screwed past there is no way a sane timeline can be constructed from it.

Nintendo has basically dug a very deep hole that it can't get out of, which is filled with mail from people with no job, still livin with their parents in their

This world has to an extent, because people think too much. And Nintendo storylines (and other companies stories) are getting extremely complicated with so many sequels and the like, plus spin off stories.

Agreed. The Mario series has had such a screwed past there is no way a sane timeline can be constructed from it.

I tend to concentrate on what's going on with the upcoming games as Nintendo has completely screwed up it's mostly all of their character's pasts.

are they trying to conect all the Mario games now to? (like they have done with Zelda... stupid idea IMO...)

Some people on Nsider seem to be aiming to. There are some right mad theories there, such as 'OMG Mario is evil and Bowser is the hero', Bowser Jr to replace Bowser and various character bashing and side taking.

And that there is a Legend of Zelda storyline. But the characters in game do not know it for certain. They cannot in fact know the storyline for various reasons.

Yeah, about the Link and Mario idea. Yet some people go crazy when they're in the same game. EG: Super Smash Bros.

It's a fighting game, and has nothing to do with the storylines!! SO STOP THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE STORYLINES ALL YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO THINK IT DOES!!!

Because of two things:

#01: In SSB, a hand picks them up and they act like dolls, just really floppy.
And #02: In SSBM, Mario transforms from trophy to human.

I reckon it's just some kid imagining his toys become real and fight!

And Giga Bowser comes from a trophy of Bowser. And when it says Continue, a trophy falls down.

Back on-topic...
I'm pretty sure it's King Boo, because Big Boo, IMO, is just the Boo that holds the cage to Big Boo's Haunt, and the 'Big Boo's Balcony', 'Ride Boo's Merry-Go-Round', and 'Go On A Ghost Hunt' boo's are all 'Big Boos'... IMO.

I knew that the crown meant it was clearly King Boo. His laugh before, during and after his battle also specifies he is King Boo as it is the same laugh from Luigi's Mansion (or at least pretty dang close to it).

King Boo? Or rather King Boo Jr./the II.

King Boo II.

King Boo was demonic and was killed (for good) by Luigi (or the chosen one) in Luigi's Mansion. Tuhs, a new, not demonic Big Boo took the crown and ruled out the boos.

I mean, the eyes give it away.

And yet again... This is a bump topic. Minus well say something to this. I'd prefer King Boo any day. Even though in Super Mario 64 DS they both are the same. Weaknesses are the same but King Boo hides behind the mirror though.

Bowserboy, that is because the Big Boo of the courtyard is not really a Big Boo, his characteristics classify him as a medium boo. It takes only one hit to wipe him out, whereas Big Boo (battle this guy in BBH 3 times) takes three hits to wipe out, and King Boo in the "Gain Luigi's Key" battle takes three hits to wipe out.

As you can tell, the medium boo of the courtyard is nothing like the bosses of BBH. He's notably smaller and weaker than the Big Boo you come to know and love in BBH, so that alone is a dead giveaway that he's distinct from all other Boos.

That Big Boo was actually intended to be named King Boo, but Big Boo was actually a mistake and typo in naming that boo, so he was named Big Boo. I attempted creating a play as code for that boo by using Big Boo Battle Arena and using Big Boo's character value, but it was a failed attempt. This probably means and indicates that "Big" ws a typo. Does this mean that there is a character value for King Boo? This also means that the two Boos that are not normal Boos are different.

So basically, King Boo is classified as a different character in the game than Big Boo in the game's programming? That sounds interesting really, and definitely helps support the idea that the Boo mentioned here is indeed King Boo rather than just a plain old Big Boo.

Yes, King Boo is notably a different character than the Big Boo. When going up against Big Boo (in any of his three battles around the haunted estate), you will inflict damage on him three times, meaning he takes 3 hits to wipe out. With each hit he loses size, and gets faster.

King Boo is akin to Big Boo in the sense that King Boo also takes 3 hits to wipe out. When he takes a hit, he gets faster but his size is unaffected. There's also the two obvious traits of going back and forth from the mirror realm to your realm, and he can shoot blue flames at you in your realm. Big Boo does not have any of these two latter traits.

That's a good point, I forgot about his mirror warping and fire breathing abilities. That alone is probably good evidence he's King Boo, since all Big Boos have the same abilities (as do all Big Bullies and what not).
