From what I can see, your first level looks pretty good (better than most). However, you need to fix the white space between the water and land, and make the land properly end near the water. It also needs enemies.

Some graphical glitchies here and there, and it's a bit bare. But for a first level, that wasn't half bad. And I like what you've done with the overworld.
