So here's a vid of my rom hack from the intro to the third level: Switch palace.
I'll be making another video today for the rest of the hack.
Enjoy;)

Nice video, so I might as well give my opinion. There are good and bad points, and because actually coming up with a review is impossible without seeing part 2, here's the list so far:
The Good
You've done quite a lot more designing in the levels than three quarters of ROM hackers ever. Good work, I didn't see a single level that seems like it's a carbon copy of something in the original, which is the big mistake a lot of Kaizo hacks make (just adding on minor changes to the existing levels).
Some nice puzzles in that ghost house type level. Such as having to use the key to stand on to go through the blue door, that's a clever puzzle to a good degree.
Love the intro. Especially how there are moons everywhere to annoy... say Moltov, and the text comes up JUST before he reaches the one moon possible to actually get to.
Nice switch palace; you actually edited the part with the switch rather than leaving it exactly identical. And edited the switch palace itself, which is a plus (since as someone paraphrasically said on Super Mario World Central, most hacks seem to completely ignore changing the switch palaces). Keep it up (I hope you've removed that room with the smashing things in Iggy's Castle, or just put something new there, I HATE that room after seeing it in videos so many times (and after playing it in the GBA version of Super Mario World, probably multiple times).
You changed the overworld. Nice job. Three quarters of ROM hacks probably don't get that far.
The overworld looks rather nice in terms of decorations and what not. A bit square, but you've got it all. Cliffs, broken ship, hills, trees, Yoshi's house, castle, pipe, sign. Not too boring from what I can see.
The Bad
Don't use the bottom layer of tiles for walking on, such as in the Switch Palace. They look like a bottomless pit.
There are glitchy enemies in the intro, so you might want to fix that. Either change the tileset or put some different enemies in that work with the set chosen.
A few things that are cut off.
P.S. What happened to the music? It sounds a bit distorted, which I'd personally blame on the computer or speaker. Or recorder maybe.
Note: I have not mentioned things like floating or stacked munchers, or a wall of water here, because to be honest, I have no problems with them, and they make complete sense under Mario World physics.

Yeah, hehe sorry for the lag but ummm... yeah, my computer is 8 years old and it was a bit slow... I'll try and see if I can get that fixed for part two XD
And yes I did take out the part where the things come to smack you in iggy's castle. It looks alot better if I say so my self!! But I'm having problems with the overworld for world two so who knows how long that'll take me:/

Take your time. And finally, someone actually removed those wooden smashing things from Iggy's Castle. No joke, nearly every hacked version of that level has those freaking things! Are people really that lazy?

That's why I feel sorry for Azura. Having to LP the same yellow switch palace and the same Iggy's Castle room in every single hack he ever gets sent. Must get very, very boring for him and others. Even more so when hey... guess what! Iggy in Castle 1 again, because even switching the boss order seems foreign to these people (not asking people to make custom bosses, but why not use one of the 6 Koopalings in castle 1, or Big Boo, or Reznor?)

Meh. Some people are either just lazy or lack the creative ability to do so.
The castle sort of bugged me...one of the large rooms held puzzles that I feared I would be stuck at without restarting the level.
But the creativity and the originality is superb, especially for this being your first hack. I think you're on your way to becoming one heck of a designer in LM, wings.

I've got to say one thing... this is probably one of only two hard ROM hacks I've seen recently that doesn't suck (the other being the DS Ultimate official one). It's got nice level design, and to be honest, I'm really hoping to see this video (because to be honest, I've found nearly no videos to watch recently).

I think some people care more about getting their hacks on Youtube as opposed to making quality levels. Speaking of which...
Wings, how long did it take Moltov to comment on your level?
mariowings77
9th December 2008, 09:57 PM
Lol trust me, it won't be too hard until world 5 or 6 XD
And plus i'm sick right now so i'll be able to work on it during school tomorrow XD
It took about a day or less for him to comment on it. Why?
EDIT:

Of course they probably do. Although it's kinda sad that in the amount of time someone like the creator of Kussotare World or Mario's Maschocistic Mission does making their levels extremely hard, they could probably be making some fantastic level designs that don't look so ugly. Same with Kaizo (they edited the Bowser battle for goodness sake, and made custom blocks and sprites in a few places) and Mario Tabarnak, whose creators could in theory spend that time making something that's not only well designed (Kaizo is to be fair, well designed for it's purpose, and probably took a long time to make) but also on the general coding magnitude of say... Brutal Mario or the like (and half the time the creator of THAT spends creating ASM tricks could probably be spent actually making the level design good). But yeah, I guess their main purpose is just to annoy the crap out of poor Azura, ProtonJon, Moltov, Raocow, etc. Although to be fair, they do know what their LPer target hates (look at all the coin trains in hacks submitted to Azura, all the invisible coin blocks in most hacks ProtonJon ends up playing and the JUST out of reach 3 up moons in the hacks Moltov receives!)
Lol trust me, it won't be too hard until world 5 or 6 XD

From what I can see so far, it seems a fair hack for difficulty. Pretty hard looking, cool, but fun.

I sent him the Creepy Castle for feedback, and he hasn't replied yet. BUT, it's only been a week, so no big deal.

It looks very nice Mariowings, and I like how you've edited the end of castle sequence. I don't quite like things like the Bowser statue half vanishing, or the overuse of used blocks in one of the early levels in that video though. And that hill's 'background' looks a bit weird (awesome overworld event though).

The thing that got me in the castle was the whole swimming through lava part. I was like, "WTF?"
Also, I would suggest editing the boss room in the future ;)
Still, it looks nice. And I remember being pretty ticked when I saw that I had to go back and try to find the Switch Palace to continue.

No problem. It's a great hack from what I can see. And Zexis, you can swim through any lava if you only use the top tile of it in a level, it's the bottom part that supposedly kills Mario and other sprites.
