This will be a board where people's sprites can be criticized (in fairness and objectivity, anyone caught burning others with comments will be given a warn, and potentially an infraction for over-the-top performances) and you can keep all the work you've done in your respective topics. (archived would be best, but not enforced)
Each spriter will have his own topic, so if someone is looking for a specific user/piece, they can find it quickly. ONLY bump your topic if you actually have new work or information to add to your topic, not to solely bump it.
There really isn't any rules on WHAT you can submit, but I will be regularly visiting popular topics for effective use of the style you are working in, the work in which you put into it, and how it can be improve through use of possible new skills. (all done objectively as possible so as not to offend anyone and have a repeat of the Pokeman boards)
If you want to submit new material, but nobody's posted in your topic after you, it is okay to double post to bump the topic for criticism. (as long as the last post is two or more hours old) Otherwise, just edit the last post.
You MUST state whether each piece, or group of pieces, is PD (Public Domain; Usable by others without consent, but credit is appreciated) or Private. If unstated, assume work to be Private so as not to infringe on the original artists preferences. ALWAYS ask for permission when using a piece (if not already stated) so as to avoid any confusion and theft.
Strict and swift punishment will be issued for any and all thefts; In or outside of the forums. If the violator is posting your images on another site without your permission or consent, notify the nearest mod/admin so that we may be able to resolve the issue accordingly.
Also, any and all sprite topics should belong in this board, whether it be game specific or not. VM, PM, or whatnot me with topics that you think fit that description which aren't in here so I can take a look at it and move it if that's the case.
In spriting, using JPEG as a format is a no-no. GIF and PNG is encouraged since it is a lossless format. Lossless meaning the quality of your work isn't distorted by a format that doesn't support the detail. For this section of the site, this rule is not encouraged, it's literally mandatory.
Effects are not how a sprite is made, you do it by hand, pixel for pixel. Though this should be abundantly clear, it seems as though many users don't know what a sprite is, and just post whatever they feel fits the bill. This is the correct definition for those of you unclear of it. Read it completely if you do not understand:

We encourage you to request things outside of people's topics, as it is slightly demanding to do so, and can easily be placed into the request topic.
Another encouragement is to keep avatar work outside these boards, unless you build it in parts as sprites (clearly following the definition stated above) and show your work. (IE: said parts in separate from each other) Otherwise, make a topic in off-topic for it.
Will add more to the list after we see how this board is handled by the users.
