Create Your Custom Character Contest!

Rules:

It CANNOT be based on an concept/character/anything already used in a video game/TV show/movie/you name it. So no sprite edits, no recolours, and no alternate universe characters.


The sprite style should be original. I cannot stress enough how originality will play an important role in this contest.


While you will only really need a single frame/pose, it will score you extra points if you make an animation of your character doing something. Same with adding more than one character, villains, weapons, anything that really requires extra work.


All bit forms are accepted. (8-bit/16-bit/32-bit/you get the idea)


In the event of a tie or a close competition, the better back story to the character will win, so keep that in your back pocket while you think up of ideas.

Judges will be chosen for the competition, don't ask to be one. You have two weeks to design a concept, so make it count.

First of all, that isn't an original character. Second of all, that doesn't really count as a sprite, since you blew up the sprite and did sub-pixeling. That may be ok for a sprite webcomic, but it isn't for spriting.

If you want a decent mark, you'll have to try again with a different idea.

Carlos the Snake is a mutated snake who is about 6 inches long. He was mutated when being testing on in a lad in Colorado. He is currently at Area 51 being kept in secret and has an IQ of 304. He also has ninja-like skills.

Here's his back story: Thousands of years ago, Project 54.9 was created by the evil Dr. Heinz to help him take over World Domination. Project 54.9 turned against Dr. Heinz, causing Heinz to flick the off switch and lock him into the basement of the lab. Centuries after that, Project 54.9 was turned back on due to a piece of the ceiling falling and hitting the off switch. Project 54.9 still searches for Dr. Heinz to destroy him. The endlaugh2:!

You have one week left! There is a reason why I gave you such a high amount of time people, good sprites don't take an hour or two to do. And considering I gave free reign to do whatever, I should be seeing alot more work than this.

yes i noticed that it is pretty much the same story as yours just different people kind of lame to copy someones story if you ask me but then again you never said that no one can use your story or any copyright whatsoever so actually its ok but sadly for him his thing he made isnt a sprite

Well, so far I've seen some good entries and some that need work, but other than that at least there have been several entries. As Turp has said, these aren't 30 minute or so jobs. They require dedication and the like, so you've got a fair bit of time to work on it every day for a few or a lot of minutes.

Hey Turp, since smi won, you should probably give out a signature banner or medals or something for the winners. I mean, you and NintenDan are master spriters, so it shouldn't take too long or be too difficult, and it'd probably be a nice thing.
