And that includes poultry, dairy, or anything else that has to do with slaughtering animals or milking them or etc... I just didn't want a long title.

I'm sure we have all heard of these things before, and we have developed good opinions about it, and I'd like to hear those. But first, let me go into the background...

Since a while ago, people and the press uncovered the "scandals" that meatpacking industries were running. The feedlots were packed with steroids and other materials that would enhance the amount of meat the animal would have to offer. The dirty conditions were uncovered, with cows having barely enough space to move comfortably, and the fields being unattended to and urine polluting the lots. (Not to mention feces) And inside the slaughter house, conditions were not any better. Employees had to work at breakneck speeds, and injury was common. Sanitation was not an important process, and the carcases were worked on no matter what was on them. Wouldn't the FDA have some regulation on this, you ask? My answer is one word... Bribes. And guess what? Here comes the best part. These foods get transported straight to your local fast food restraunt. Then they cook them, and it goes straight through your mouth!

That's the story. Since many people are scared of this, they become vegetarians. I'm not on their side, I eat meat still, even after I heard this. And before I go, I'd like to reference the book Skinny *****. (Seriously) The book mainly says that the only way to get the body you want is to become a vegetarian. And guess what? They said that milk does the opposite of what you think it does- they said it HELPS osteoporosis. That's just crazy...

So what do you think about this? Give me your honest opinion. (Whew, that's a lot of typing...)

Yeah, I knew about that. But guess what? I don't have cancer! I said that I am not taking their (your) side, just posting what they think.

They're definitely nasty, and inhumane. Not saying eating meat is bad though. Try to get organics, if possible (if you have enough money. :P).

Organics are your best choice, but they cost more because of the "special processes" that are used to raise them. Non-organics are produced quickly and cheaply.

Organic, free range, or vegetarian diets. I'll adopt one of those as soon as I go off to college, but I cannot right now, as my parents control what I eat.

I still eat meat, but I don't eat it cooked rare. Too dangerous.

Oh yeah, the fetal pigs we're dissecting in science class are byproducts of the meat industry. They get them when they kill a pregnant pig. Isn't that a bit mean? Don't you think that they should deliver their pigs so the meat people can have more meat later?

I still think it's bad.

Well, there's a lot of bad things that go on even in nature. It's not like animals are peace-loving murder-free rainbow children that don't know what death is...

This is exactly why I do not like meat products from fast food places. In all honesty, this is why fast food eateries (especially McDonalds) have went down in revenue over the past 5-10 years.

Yup. Exactly.

Has McDonalds really gone down in revenue? But I really believe that a little bit of meat from a fast food restraunt won't kill you or give you a heartworm. >_>

Yes, the McDonalds chain has gone down in making revenue. They are still making sufficient money, just not as much as they did several years ago. The reasons for this include, but are not limited to:

Books and other releases of print media with the kind of documentary mentioned in the topic creator's original post.
The film SuperSize Me specifically describes the risks associated with fast food, especially that of McDonalds.
Updates in health classes in schools/educational institutions and motivational health seminars.

Over the past decade, the meat industry has indeed been affected by what was described in the original post, but moreso with the fast food industry. During the past 5-10 years, fast food has still been in consumer demand but people have been seeking healthier alternatives, such as going for a healthy salad and fruit juice from 7-11 as opposed to a chili dog with a Big Gulp.

But I really believe that a little bit of meat from a fast food restraunt won't kill you or give you a heartworm.

You are right about this, it's when you eat too much meat from fast food restaurants that it becomes a problem. Fast food eateries provide little nutritional content, so you're honestly better off going to somewhere else that serves adequately healthy food. Oh, and remember the scare brought about by the Mad Cow disease several years ago in the news? That caused many people to go vegan and/or avoid fast food places due to the mere thought of something like a beefworm hiding in meat.

Mad Cow... I remember those epidemics from years ago. What suprised me, however, is that those documentaries actually having an effect on the way the people think, because for me, I didn't become vegan, and I'm still fine today.

True, but you'll develop problems later in life. You could have high cholestrol, high blood pressure, cancer, liver disease, opsteoporusis and a bunch of other thing.
