View Full Version : I so hate January

Here it is, coming to the end of the dullest month of the year, when everyone seems to be working hard, in either school/college/university/work/whatever (prison?) and the internet and offline world seems to have died an early death.
I mean, this is like getting so quiet here, many forums have only 3 people going online, with activity going down by a ton and Conic's Place? Well that seems to be very stagnating at the moment (I should post a bit there, for the sake of it).
Everyone being at work however is annoying me. This day has nowhere near the expected post count, or registrations. Gamefaqs Mario Kart DS is in critical life support state, with like 3 posts in the last 11 hours or so, with hardly anyone replying to anything!

Oh, and it is so worse for me, as I have tons of breaks and time go online, yet nobody is online. Where the hell is everyone and everything?
caprontos
30th January 2007, 09:40 PM
I've been online about... 40% of the day... just mostly playing a game.
cheat-master30
30th January 2007, 09:42 PM
It is worse though that some of the more active members somehow decide they are too busy to be online at the one time activity is needed to stop this place becoming less active than a cemetary.

30th January 2007, 09:50 PM
true I tried to post alittle throught out the day thou I just got distracted for long periods of time.

30th January 2007, 09:51 PM
I am mainly though talking about how Nintendan picked the worst possible time to not be online, as in, this dead period.
caprontos
30th January 2007, 09:54 PM
yea however its like the middle of the night for him isn't it?
cheat-master30
30th January 2007, 09:56 PM
He could have still be online when it was possible, as it would have raised the activity level. Talking about that, it seems 9 out of 10 forums have had a significant activity drop, even those with 1000s of members.
caprontos
30th January 2007, 10:01 PM
then its just that time of year I suppose... I have noticed a lack of people on other forums I belong to..

caprontos
30th January 2007, 10:30 PM
your signture is quite large :)
cheat-master30
30th January 2007, 10:31 PM
A signature that big is a just a bit ridiculous.
caprontos
30th January 2007, 10:33 PM
it takes up the full screen (on my computer screen) (not the sides just the middle..)
cheat-master30
30th January 2007, 10:42 PM
I find that annoying as well. Just because you have to scroll to read the next post. Oh well, I remember a forum where someone had a flash game in their signature... now that must have been very annoying.

I'm getting used to the change of things:
Times to go to bed (can't stay up late now, it's a school night!)
And resting a bit after a hot day...!
Sorry, but It's just the heat and everything knocking me around. In winter I may be active, as goes with the Easter holidays which are in 9-10 weeks for me!
cheat-master30
31st January 2007, 08:36 AM
The Easter Holidays are way better than this time of the year though.
caprontos
31st January 2007, 01:10 PM
thats true it'll get more active as sumer gets here for us and as winter gets there for NintenDan
NintenDan
1st February 2007, 07:18 AM
Yes! My birthday's in Winter too, which adds to the fun! For my maths class I have a strict teacher... He seems okay, just really strict.

Well January is not the only month that people will start going to work. September is worse. Their was a Starfox forum that was really cool in the summer time last year and it died.
cheat-master30
1st February 2007, 01:47 PM
Yeah, and it always happens at either September or January. I bet most failed forums were set up in those months and died because of a lack of activity.
caprontos
1st February 2007, 08:20 PM
plus schools starting again (for us) in september so people aren't on to much at night since they have to get use to waking up early again.

1st February 2007, 08:32 PM
Even with this though, 27 members and over 3000 posts in just after a month is awesome!

koool, back to the january topic, nothing bothers me about it except; going back to school, boringest month of year, nothing to do, 'back to school is EVERYWERE in shop's, parents saying ' you ready for school?, and finally school itself
cheat-master30
2nd February 2007, 11:00 PM
True, as school and work are awful and the problem is that shops seem to boast how great they are!
caprontos
3rd February 2007, 02:01 AM
because they make money when ur going back to school.
NintenDan
3rd February 2007, 05:56 AM
Yeah, shops just want to cash in on your money. They don't care if you're going back to school!
cheat-master30
3rd February 2007, 11:59 AM
I know that. Just how a small bottle of a fizzy drink now costs a whole £1.00 in a local shop is annoying.
NintenDan
4th February 2007, 05:33 AM
All the food in the canteen at my school has risen, because they took unhealthy drinks and that off of the counter. Those fizzy drinks were the foundation of the canteen!
cheat-master30
4th February 2007, 09:22 AM
Huh? You mean drinks like Coke, Sprite and Fanta?
Astr0
4th February 2007, 12:09 PM
These months suck because it's hard to adjust to what ever you may be coming back to.
Like Cheatmaster said: School, Work, The rest of the stuff I can't remember and (Prison?).
I have my Exams on monday so I'm in a very bad mood. Good start to the new year ay</sarcasm>
cheat-master30
4th February 2007, 12:10 PM
Yeah, only those who are mental find school and work better than not being there.
NintenDan
5th February 2007, 09:11 AM
I agree with you Astro, it is hard to adjust so quickly! And yes, they banned, (or are planning) on banning those kinds of drinks. You can buy Milk, Water and Juice now. I think they're getting rid of chips and that too! But It won't affect me because I pack my lunch!
cheat-master30
5th February 2007, 04:55 PM
I never ate school dinners. They're usually horrible anyway.
NintenDan
6th February 2007, 09:13 AM
Yeah, most of the time, and the canteen ladis are mean, in a funn sort of way...

Not happened where I used to go.
NintenDan
7th February 2007, 09:09 AM
I understand the fact that it's unhealthy, but at least selling it once a week wouldn't hurt. Our canteen ladies are mean, like if you don't have enough money, they'll say: "Next time, dummy" and they make out like they don't care if you're buying stuff from them...
caprontos
7th February 2007, 03:32 PM
haha we had a few like that but not all were mean.
NintenDan
8th February 2007, 07:13 AM
Well, there's the main lady, and she's probably the meanest as she works too fast. She has memorized all the prices into her head!!!
cheat-master30
8th February 2007, 11:10 AM
Very bad if you want a discount I suppose!
NintenDan

It's crowded every day. It's nearly like running with the bulls, except replace the bulls with kids! ARGHHH!!!! I borrowed a book from the library: The X files. It was the first thing I found and because I forgot to bring a novel for silent reading, I didn't want to get a detention!

Well, since there is barely anybody online I just come and check on Nintenzone and DS Ultimate about every thirty minutes. Depending on the activity I will stay for a while.
EDIT: I thought this topic was new. How is this January?

It's true though, as Pyrobyte said that January is a pretty bad month for internet forums. And lucky for those getting a four day weekend.

I only get a 3-day weekend. Not too bad. I'll probably be spending most of tomorrow on the computer, working on a new ARDS SM64DS codelist.
