What do you think the future direction of gaming will be? For me, I think something like this:
1. Motion controls become standard. Well, they're working for Nintendo, Sony kinda implemented them and Microsoft showed something along those lines at the last E3, so I suspect a few future consoles, maybe even a few generations of consoles will have them by default. Some companies who now disapprove of these types of controls and stuff will probably switch to supporting them, others will probably die outright (past experience indicates that companies who refuse to go along with the trends or keep up with the times usually falter and pretty much collapse. It's happened to a LOT of internet websites and web software for forums and the like, and those basically ended up shutting their doors or completely rebranding themselves because of it).
2. Nintendo are going to have a minor problem in that their next console needs another gimmick as well as a major upgrade in technical power, because while their sales are high, their next console needs to offer something other than 'More motion sensing controls' because that's becoming the default. But who knows.
3. Sony are pretty much screwed. Okay, that's too harsh, but seriously, their sales are relatively poor, their games are hardly exclusive to their console in the slightest and quite honestly, any attempts to compete in future by cutting prices with a reduction in technical power will basically put them at the exact same power as Nintendo and Microsoft, killing what advantages they have left after all the above.
