For me, I'd say of course it's not gone up, and it's probably either stayed the same or slowly been going down. Why? Because past statistics are not particularly the most accurate indication of anything. For example, many older eras had a lot of crime either go completely unreported or never get solved/get a conviction. Heck, Victorian crime solving wasn't particularly an advanced thing, and had the same political correctness problems as modern day stuff.

I just personally hate the crap about today's population being so much worse than those past generations. I kinda love how these newspapers always portray their own writers and their generations as such angels that could do no wrong and the world as some utopia until this that or the other. Absolute rubbish if you ask me.

Up. The reason? Three words. The economy sucks.

It's gone down. Legalize Marujana and it will go down more. Why? Gangs are formed (mostly) to get money for drugs. If Drugs were legal it would be cheaper to get drugs. Also The state could put a tax in it and the government could get money. If you look when Achohal was banned from the US crime rate went up tremendously. Now Im not saying drugs are good but Im saying crime rates would go down.

Statistics can tell us the answer. Googled 'crime levels' and got this for the UK.

UK crime levels “fall” according to survey (http://news.icm.ac.uk/business/uk-crime-levels-“fall”-according-to-survey/572/)

The rest of the world I'm not sure about, of course. But I would estimate that it's on the decrease too. We just can't afford all our weapons in this day and age, y'see?

The funny thing about that article, however, is that it's referring to England and Wales only. Up here in Scotland, we're still stabbing away at each other and hijacking cars as much as we always do.
