Since this seems to be one of the key differences between various well off countries at the moment, would you say it's better to have public healthcare (think the NHS, I think Australia and other countries have this as well), or only privatised healthcare (think in the USA).

As someone who's lived in the UK all their life, how is it in the US? Do you prefer paying for health care privately? Does it increase living costs by a significant amount?

I'd like what the UK has. <_< I hate the health care system in the US.

Can you explain your argument more than just a single sentence?

:O I forgot. Well the US health care just sucks. The price is way to high if you don't have insurance and still even then it's pretty high. I forget the exact amount but a large percent of the US is uninsured.

Thanks for your reasoning. Anyone else got a point? Do you agree with me and orga the alien on this?

I would also like the U.S.A. to have what the UK has in terms of public healthcare for the good of our nation. The U.S.A.'s terms of private healthcare is decent, but not that great. When you live in this nation, having no medical insurance is a risk you can not afford due to medical costs being too high.

At least I'm on supplemental Social Security benefits, so I have medical coverage. Anybody here in the U.S.A. who is of age 17 and lower is always covered by their parent/legal guardian's medical insurance. Anybody here in the U.S.A. who is of age 18 and higher needs to get their own healthcare; one waver in the law about this is that if the person is a full-time student then he/she can be on the legal guardian's terms of medical insurance.

Private healthcare, and insurance, costs a lot, but public isn't much better. First off, it's not free. You have to pay for yours, and help out pay for everyone elses due to taxes. Second, the government isn't too great at running at public programs like these. Just look at how well off Medicare and Medicaid are doing now. Heck, look at the VA (the veteran's healthcare). I've been in one in Prescott, AZ. Disgusting place. >_> Next up, being a doctor is one helluva job. You have to go and pay your way through medical school, to have one of the toughest (yet best paying) jobs. Now, how would that all be when you're being payed the same for working every day on the job? How productive will the doctors be when they are getting payed the same for treating a kid's nose bleed for performing open heart surgery? Private hospitals and businesses have to strive to be the cleanest, most professional, and most respected businesses, to attract customers. But will they be the same way when there are no rewards for good work under a public government-run healthcare system?

Besides, I just don't want the government controlling everything.... Maybe, I've read too many books (1984, Brave New World, Animal Farm, Utopia), but I just don't want the government to control such large parts of our lives. Didn't we leave Britain and Europe because of the overtly large governments and corrupt rulings?

I hate America's public health care. It's not good for people like me. You see, they give everyone the same benefits for the same cost. But not everyone's health is the same. Like my grandma's for example. In 2007, she was in a car accident. Now, she lives with me, she can no longer walk, and it cost about $250,000 to cover her immediae medical bills, let alone her medications and doctor visits. So I think it's treating everyone the same and there for, not good.

I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy in your theory about "small government" A government can never be to small or else things will start to fall apart. If we were just to let buisnesses run wild it would only get worse and worse. For example Walmart outsources so much. Instead of outsourcing they hire cheap labor from china(kinda funny how in a way a china runs us) On top of that buisnesses want and will do anything they can to make a profit. They can damage the enviorment.

Also here's a little tidbit I included in a 5 page essay I had to write for school If Im for against the death penalty:
The Death Penalty costs 2 to 5 times more than life in prison.

You want lower taxes? Get rid of the Death Penalty.
Speaking of the Death Penalty it's funny how your against killing an unborn child yet your fine with killing a living person.

The government is not small. They control your mind....If you think Im crazy Im not..Look:
The Government says you cannot take drugs because they prevent a state of reality in your mind to occur. In other words the government controls your mind because you cannot get high.

Also what if the government wasn't small? We'd go back to Articles of Confederation. The AOC ultimately failed for many reasons. One thing the government would not be able to tax....That's right. You got what you wanted...BUT without taxes the reason why it failed was it was not able to pay to raise an army and do stuff like: have a police force and prosocute people for their crimes, make buildings ect....

Also another thing. The army is a part of the government. You say you want a small government yet a huge army? IT DOES NOT WORK SINCE THE ARMY IS PART OF THE GOVERNMENT.
Speaking of the government the USA would have lower taxes if we were not in the war in Iraq!
Im just pointing out why the Republican party is so Hypocritical. Now if you think if I could vote I would be a democrat your wrong. I just hate the Republican party for being so Hypocritical.

Back on Topic: DOCTORS DO NOT TREAT NOSEBLEEDS. (kinda obvious) On top of that EITHER WAY THE DOCTORS ARE SCREWED. HEALTH INSURANCE IS TO HIGH SO PEOPLE CANNOT EVEN GO SEE A DOCTOR AND PAY FOR IT. On top of that I wanted to raise a point. You are a christian. SO WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO GIVING TO THE POOR?

Sorry for the long rant....

^ Man, it's okay. You're rant is sticking it to the man! That's th way it should be! It's like doin' it. The establishment doesn't want us to because they know it makes us feel good. And if we can feel good on our own, why need the establishment? It's a huge protest. And so is your speech! I LOVE IT MAN!
