By this I mean video game codes (this also includes hacking). I want your opinions on hacks, codes, etc. If you use them, and if so for what and where you think the line should be drawn (as in where you can't and can use it)

I think using codes are ok as long as you beat the game, but I don't really approve of hacking itself.

I think they're fine if you've beaten the game and are using them to get more enjoyment out of it. When you're in multiplayer, they're only fine when using them to add more functionality to the mode, like selecting levels you can't select otherwise, not to get an easy advantage.

Haha, oh hacking... So much to say about this =P But I'll keep it to game codes... I agree with YLA on this one... They're fine, but only if you've beaten the game. If you haven't beaten the game, there are a few codes that I would be fine with, for example, with the action replay in mario kart ds, there's a code to play as a shy guy... That would be fine... there's also a code to go 600cc... that (Imo) is not fine until after you beat the game.

I think codes and hacks are good if you do them for enjoyment.
But if you use them to help you win, thats when I lose respect for them.

I believe codes are fine if you are just playing around a level and experimenting. Using trainers in the C&C games for instance (especially Yuri's Revenge) really allows you to do more in the game like look at the default Cosmonaut walking animation (this is otherwise inaccessible, you can not see it in the original un-modded game). Fun stuff can be done, and you can do constructive things like enable "all weapons" and "infinite ammo" cheats if you are writing something along the lines of a damage meter guide (this is exactly how some people write up "hit point" guides for all the weapons in Goldeneye).
In single player modes, I say using cheats/codes are always fine. If the AI really is a cheating entity, retaliate with codes! Show the machine who's boss!
In multiplayer modes, cheats & codes should always be done in mutual agreeance. If just one person has a problem with them, don't use them. Incidentally, many folks love using codes with friends to experiment with game environments & glitches and even create "Red Vs Blue" type videos.

Well said Cheat Master. A good example of this is enabling the Airship Fortress (which is originally unavailable to multiplayer mode) stage in Mario Kart DS' multiplayer.
If you're getting an easy advantage in multiplayer (such as infinite ammo on your end in a Halo match), then that is cheating and always against the rules.
