View Full Version : Time Trials, GP or Mission Mode?

I personally think Time Trial mode is the best mode in Mario Kart DS compared to the other two. Grand Prix mode is okay but has the problem of being too unfair at higher levels, with computers having rubber band like AI which causes them to catch up to you very easily. Mission Mode is good, but has many boring and short missions as well as some that I just don't like. It has some nice boss battles though. But I prefer Time Trial because with that much time you have plenty to try out all manner of tricks, glitches and shortcuts and you can strive to get amazing times to compete against the world at a dedicated site. Plus, it's cool beating the amazingly bad Staff Ghosts.

Now which do you prefer?

Time Trial is the best because I like going for a world record. People will loose interest in the GP mode after they get all the gold and 3 stars. I don`t play mission mode that much because I have the 3 stars.

Very true. I lost interest in mission mode about when I got three stars myself.

Time Trial is a endless mode after you finish everything. But sometimes my own time ghost gets annoying when I keep messing up, but that just me.

How about playing without the ghost?

Luis

If I take out the ghost, I won`t know that if i`m beating the record. I need the ghost to know.

I don't. I just go on times and flap times (fastest lap) and the such. Each his own I guess.

I might find a part that I would power slide when the ghost didn`t. That means that I made an error when I made that ghost.

Oh, okay. In retrospect when you play your own ghost though, there is that advantage that you can see where you went wrong and correct it.

Luis

That`s correct. My ghost will fall behind and I will keep going to make the ghost better.

Good strategy there. I used it when I played Double Dash on the Gamecube. By the way, what are some of your time trial records? Like for Airship Fortress?

Luis
4th February 2007, 12:54 AM
I startled the Airship Fortress today so it`s not good right now: 2:00:297. I`ll update this when it gets better. Rainbow Road: 2:10:416

Cool! You are not much worse than me at Rainbow Road, as I only got 2:09:XXX. I got 1:52:XXX at Airship Fortress though.

0:46:000 or something. Yes, but I have not played this game for real time trial records in about 3 months.

I play whatever seems interesting. I can't play TT for too long or else I get a bit bored. I like playing GP the most, as there's competition. But Vs is also fun. But out of the 3 you said, I'd go with GP.

Okay, that's cool. Everyone has a different opinion.

Yes, I enjoy TT a fair bit, and enjoyed beating each staff ghost. My skills improved after each staff ghost defeat!

They always do. I can tell you that because what happens to me is what you described.

Cool! That's interesting! I had the most trouble beating the Ranibow Road ghost and some others I forgot.

I had trouble against the Rainbow Road staff ghost, and my time was only 2:09:XXX.

NintenDan
7th February 2007, 08:35 AM
My time was either close to or 2:06:XXX

Do they do three numbers in the milliseconds colum to lower a chnace of a tie, I think they do to increase the fun, when you and a computer pass at nearly the exact time.

Not sure. But just to say, I wonder what would happen if all digits were the same in the time between two players or against a computer player?

I don't usually bump a lot of topics but... I just wanted to say that I went on F8C, having unlocked the Couse Ghost, and OMG... I snaked a bit, I then hit a wall, and accidentally landed on some grass, and I was moving really slowly... so I was losing loads of seconds.... yet the Ghost was about a century behind me..... lol.... actually he was about 3-4 seconds... and that's after I'd hit the wall and was dragging off road (?)... wow... they are rubbish...

I know. I mean, how badly do Nintendo suck at their own games? Of course, that makes me think of how hilarious it would be to actually see the staff who raced to create those ghosts failing to be good at the game hilariously in the Nintendo of Japan HQ...

TheUltimateKoopa

Yeah... lol.

Staff Ghost.... creator: OMG... I got 5 days on Baby Park... beat that!
Someone else: Oh yeah? I got 55 seconds. Ha... I beat your record by 4 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 5 seconds... so much for 'beat that!' <_<.....

OK, that was crap wasn't it?

cheat-master30

Compared to the world record of 42 seconds, likely. But the Staff Ghost was worse.

NintenDan

Heh, heh, heh, funny if that actually happened!
