TOPIC
So, uh guys, what's going on with all this Sonic hate going on? Oh he sucks. Oh he doesn't fit. LOL SONIX!!11! Come on now. There is no reason he shouldn't be in Brawl. Only your opinions of the character. Sonic is Sega's mascot, and frankly, if they get a 3rd party character in, which is likely, because out of all the 3rd parties out there, Sega is the closest to Nintendo, it will be Sonic. Sonic is their mascot. I don't care if there are better Sega games.
Saying another character will be in over Sonic is like saying, "Link is going to be a guest character in another game representing Nintendo instead of Mario". It's debatable whether Zelda is better than Mario or not, but, in the end Nintendo's mascot, Mario will come out on top. Maybe Link isn't the best example because he WAS in Soul Calibur 2, but a guy with a sword will go in a game with a bunch of guys with swords better than Mario would. In the end Sonic represents Sega, and like it or not is iconic and the best choice from that particular party for a character.
Of course this would be different if Sonic didn't fit, like Mario didn't fit with Soul Calibur 2. But face it. Super Smash Bros. is a game of cartoon plumbers, electric rodents, sci-fi bounty hunters legendary heroes, and now badass secret agents. Surely you realize that Smash Bros. is Smash Bros. because of the diversity and mishmash. Sonic would fit in just fine, as would any other character.
"Ya, well sega is teh uber suxors lawl". That's beside the point. Sega and Nintendo get along just fine, and are quite friendly towards each other. As addressed previously, of all 3rd parties in, Sega is the most likely. The quality of their recent titles are beside the point. They are an iconic company anyway.
On the issue of his moveset, as previously stated, a moveset can be made for anybody. Not that it should be done for everybody, but if it is an interesting character, that deserves to be in Smash, they will do it. Not to turn this into a Toad flameware, but in my opinion, he is not deserving of a moveset, wheras, somebody like Captain Falcon, Tom Nook, or Sonic would deserve it. They are iconic while the other is rather generic. Besides though, most of the moveset would not have to be made from scratch. Sonic has plenty of things to draw moveset from.
With that I conclude my argument of support for the Blue Blur in Brawl, and if there are any other anti-sonic arguments out there, just post them for me to shoot down.
