View Full Version : How the Mirror Rooms Work

Now, I have just realised this after examining it with an Action Replay and this is how I think it works:

There are two versions of your character loaded in the same map area, but separated by the mirror. If you move, your mirrored clone moves in the same way, regardless of if the idea is logical or not. So if you moon jump up, as does the copy. Now, if you go through, the two character models switch places, and the camera moves to the other side of the mirror in some instances. I realised this more with the Moon Jump code in Big Boo Battle arena. When Wario went out the top of the level, I could see an exact clone opposite him doing the same.

Pictures later.

Now, the game does not 100% interact with what is the other side of the mirror, and keys/rabbits/etc will either be ghost like or not exist depending on the mirror used. Plus, there is a flaw with the reflection in Big Boo Battle. The ceiling entrance does not exist in the duplicate.

Interesting.

Yeah, and I have a photo. There are other interesting things as well, like how for some reason I think the third room in Big Boo Battle and the final room before the boss are always loaded at the same time.

You can check sites like GS Central, GSHI or Kodewerx for them.

hmmmm... i think that might be why the clone code is possible... most likely...:D

Probably, yes.

cause it's been said that you couldn't make a code with something that isn't in the game... so it is probably the most plausible one... as for things like color mods... well... i guess that's what the game designers did for fun while testing the textures... but i want to know how people come up with sound mods...???

Since i haven't tested out the sound mods, I don't know what theydo. Do they make everything sound weird, or do they do something else? Also, if you wear the Yoshi cap, there's no noise when you stick out your tongue. Here's how you do it. Go into any level (It works in Dire Dire docks for sure) as anyone not Yoshi and enter it with the press buttons to change character to Yoshi code activated, but DON'T PUSH THE BUTTONS. Select any star, and now press the buttons. You'll essentially wear the Yoshi cap, but since there's no cap, you can't take it off! Try it out. I'll make a video when I get my DS back from my parents after making a video of quambo's level modifer.

well there are two sound mods that i know of...
1 mf's sound mod... makes everything messed up as far as sound goes:P(great code)
and
2 chipmunk noises... makes everyone's voice really high...(still looking for it:p)

They sound cool! Gotta try them out. I have to do my music practicing before I get my DS back.

Well, I've got all the codes you need. I have all the original included codes for version 2 on my codelist. They are the ones that came on my Action Replay when I bought it. In fact, as soon as I got my new Action Replay, since my last one broke irreparably, I uploaded all codelists for all games that were stored on it into my PC. The link to my codes thread is in my signature. Hope it helps. Bowser}

Just curious, but could someone try a clone code that starts up with only 1 player? This will see if the mirror theory is true if there is no mirror reflection.

Good idea, but it'll also need warp functionality to either the normal Mirror Room or Big Boo Battle boss arena.

Well there is a code that makes you warp to desried place there is a clone mario code so if you use those 2 together why cant you just have 3 clones in
1 room. But I dunno if that'll just freeze da game or not

Wait, do clones show up in the mirror? If they do, the number of characters must be doubled in those rooms. I bet I could use trainer toolkit to figure thus out...

How about someone just tries it then? Or replace the power flowers with clones...

1. Off topic.
2. Yes, you can go through doors. If not, swim under.
