Just played another file today from the start, and even though I got to 149 stars in about less than four hours, I couldn't collect the star from Toad for some reason, nor did the star from the room unlocked after getting the white rabbits actually register. Seriously, I got it and the star counter stayed the same.

Oh, and I proved the 'Red Coins in Courtyard' thing is a total myth, that was the 149th star I collected.

Yep, missing out on the last freaking star because the game glitches up on me for no real reason. Next time, need to get that star in the secret area last.

I did say I used an AR code to get five extra stars, and caused stuff to go haywire...

No, I collected the last star when I had 149 stars, but the total didn't change.

Get the eight red coins in the courtyard. If that's not it, get the eight red coins in Luigi's painting.

And if all else fails, talk to all of the Toads.

As I said, I got 149 stars, got another gold star and it didn't count to the score. I got the one from the white rabbit room last, and that didn't count.

Other people would have had this happen to them before now. A glitch of that magnitude wouldn't be discovered more than a year after the release, sorry.

Ahem. This used Action Replay and a five star trick. This never happens if you don't use AR. I know what happened because similar happened to a Mario Sunshine file (if you get too many stars early without going through missions and such).
