Is there a Mario timeline?

Here is the ultimate question for all you Mario fans... did Nintendo want there to be and is there a timeline? If so, explain your proof and if not, also explain your proof!

I personally think there is not however, mainly because something in the UK Official Magazine said that there was set continuity to not tie down future games with a story or something.

Well, Nintendo wanted one, but after all the spin-offs and that, it got confusing so the scrapped it!

Possibly, as the recent games involving Time travel obviously make a Timeline very difficult to construct (the amount of paradoxes and oversights in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time for one thing).

No timeline because I don't think a timeline would work with all the games. If they made a timeline for it it would be like the LoZ timeline worthless.

I wonder what the Legend of Zelda timeline is though. I still don't trust the fan timelines though, better to wait for the official and not possible to argue about one. Even though that will still be ignored by fans with their own theories.

I believe there is because the whole story startled in Super Mario World 2 Yoshi`s Island. This is where Mario and Luigi was born. After that Yoshi`s Island DS continues from that. This has Donkey Kong, Wario and Peach when they were still a baby. Yoshi is suppose to be the dinosaures that lived before humans. The story goes on in partners in time. I wonder how Peach got a castle because she didn`t had one in YIDS. Bowser was trying to get the Princess ever since.

Everyone has a different opinion I guess. I still don't understand how, in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time:

1- Mario and Luigi cannot remember the story and outcome

2- How Bowser survived being in a volcano during an eruption.

3- How Bowser, from being thrown into the air, fell into the future and into Peach's Castle.

Mario and Luigi are not really smart I guess. Bowser landed on the portal when he fell. Since is a cartoon, they can survive anything.

Probably. Just the huge amount of holes in the storyline can be a bit worrying, and makes me sure there is no timeline.

Maybe Bowser brought Bowser Jr with him to the future. That`s why their together. It will be hard to put all the Mario games together in the time order. I already got the first two. Those two Yoshi`s Islands came first.

Yeah, as they tell the stories of Mario as a child/baby. And the past part of Partners in Time comes soon after those.

I don`t know about Yoshi`s Story. I think that continues after Yoshi saved Baby Luigi because they are not involve in the game and they are safe where the bird left them. So Yoshi was the first main hero. Then Mario took his place.

Not sure about that game either, as I never played it much, only as a rented game and did not understand it back then.

There can't be a set timeline because Mario and Luigi ARE NOT twins. Yet they ar both clearly the same age in Partners in Time. How can that be? I'd guess Mario to be 5-7 years Older than Luigi. That would realistically mean Mario could walk and talk while Luigi would be pink and screaming.

It's probably true, and that many different Mario games don't care about any canonity stuff...
