Instant Death in Water?

How come when you fly up under the water in multiplayer mode you 'drown' and fall back down at the point where you started the multiplayer level (from the sky)? Is Mario suddenly allergic to water?

Note: This is about the four player vs mode and AR use.

Moonjump to escape the level and come from underneath the water.

It's because Nintendo didn't intend for you to go underwater in multiplayer, so the search for being underwater was never put in for wireless play.

I've done this before, but I use my own code that allows me to make water appear everywhere.(I can turn it on and off) it does the same thing. I'll post the code later on. It's really long.
