The Weirdness of Red Coins

After nine coins, it then says you have zero coins and a ticking count down like noise sounds. Then, it later changes the number color to silver like the silver stars at a later point. The coins just stack up on the top of the screen.

99 red coins fills the whole top row and overlaps the coin counter. It also resets to zero after you collect another red coin.

If you get above a certain number, the numbers go silver. Then, they go red ish again. And red comes out when swimming, often through the air bubbles. It looks like he may be bleeding...
