Ghostly Galaxy is extremely ghost themed to the max. If you look carefully, you can see ghost icons in the floor tiles, all the clouds are ghost shapes and it's just ghosts and ghoul references everywhere.
You can skip most of the secret star in Freezeflame Galaxy by using Luigi's back flip with spins and a wall kick. Do something like this and you can skip the whole section with the boulders, and then even the bit where you wall kick right to the summit.
Cosmic Mario/Luigi only appear if you move forward or backward from the start point. In Honeyhive and Gold Leaf, go backwards and they won't appear until you pass the start position in the direction of the main level. In Sea Slide, you can walk in about one metre of ground horizontal from your position before they appear.
Hit Bowser Jr with starbits and he falls, dropping a ton of them on the main level.
People have Gamefaqs have also found you can do a boost start in the Cosmic Comet races. This gives you a massive advantage over Cosmic Mario/Luigi.
You can beat MOST of the first star in Toy Time Galaxy (Mecha Bowser) without actually using the spring. Use the Luigi back flip trick and you can skip using the spring on the first area, next area (with mecha koopas and more lasers and the train) and all of the actual robot itself (even to reach it's head). The only point you need it seems to be the part with the star launcher in the sealed bottle.
