First, it's a weird glitch/trick that you can first the first Toad who's stuck in a slingpod at the next one, and he'll still talk to you when you reach the first one saying he's stuck!

You can also fire a Toad right at Tarantox to hurt him/break those orbs/dots on the creature.

Oh, and if you are having a really, really bad day, you can fling either Mario or one of the Toad brigade straight into the outskirts of the galaxy and watch as they plummet into the black hole.
