View Full Version : Any stars you found difficult in your first ever play?

Basically, when you played either this (if you started with this game) or Super Mario 64 (if you started with that one), were their own stars you found too difficult, or difficult sections?

For me, I found Bowser in the Fire Sea a tad difficult on the Nintendo 64 version, as well as the elevator star in the volcano, and the star in the floating house in Rainbow Ride. What did you find difficult then?

The first one... and only one I think I actually needed to use a Walkthrough from GameFAQs.... see... I checked the FAQs YAY!!... um... anyway... it was 'Switch Star of Cool Cool Mountain' I think.

Heh, where you must hit a switch and race to break the ice as Wario in Cool Cool Mountain?

Yep....... <--- um... I put 7 dots so that the three characters from 'Yep' with the dots make 10 characters.... if you get my drift.

Yeah, I know what you mean. And you know what else is odd about that game? I still find the piano creepy, after all these years.

omg u are leik a wimp chaet.... u r skard of teh paino??? oooooooo noooo teh panos gona git meee... hellllp!!

*cough*... um.. but seriously I've never really been scared of the piano... heck nothing in the game scares me... well except when I put size modifier codes, and then suddenly this huge gigantic eyeball appears (Mr. I), or a huge gigantic coin... and by gigantic... you don't want to know how big I mean... well OK... just simply imagine this... the height of a flat red coin star shadow is probably about the same as the diameter of a coin.... but I've modified the size so that just the height... or the depth/thickness... whatever you like to call it is for example... almost as high as the entire Tick Tock Clock tower... and of course the actual star it self? Well... the arms just spread out as far as say... 10x the entire area of... Bob-omb Battlefield for example...
OK... that's enough of my life story :D.

Wait, can the size modifiers affect anything in the game? And if a Gamespotter said that, I would seriously flame them.

What part did you die at?

I had trouble with that one star in Hazy Maze cave. The secret star. It took me a good 2 weeks to find it. And this was in the N64 version. I forget the actual name of the star, but it was close to that.

Wait, can the size modifiers affect anything in the game? And if a Gamespotter said that, I would seriously flame them.

Well... for example... if you find the 'Goomba Size Modifer' code... as well as every goomba.... the logs, Koopa Troopas (the small ones with the shells), the shells them selves, chain chomp, Mr I, flames, throwable boxes, bouncy boxes (the ones that, when picked up, bounce 3 times), cap boxes, ! boxes, piranha plants, chuck-ya, heave-ho.... basically a load of different things... including the ship in JRB, the cage in the courtyard (as you saw in the QHQ topic), bats........ loads of different things, will also get modified, sizically (lol)... and it's only meant to be a Goomba Size Modifier <_<...

Also... I was "A n00b from GameSpot"... I was just posting that as a joke to um... annoy you in a funny sort of way ;) ... (.... please don't hurt me <_<).... but that's more or less what the average spothead would post, no?

Nice amount of things it can modify there... How about the castle?

TheUltimateKoopa
17th April 2007, 09:17 PM
No, unfortunately. There was a video, however on YouTube, where signs, butterflies, and yes, parts of the castle (flags, I think it was) were also largified.... but I haven't found that code yet...

Oh. Imagine a castle as large in scale as Tiny Huge Island's huge island area is!

I 100% agree with you. I did in the DS version first after like 99,000 tries and for christmas I got an N64, And In January I got SM64, Because of that level I am never gonna try to get 120 stars again! ( I did get after a few thousand tries tho.

Very, very few. More in the original Mario 64, but most stars were not too challenging. I do remember however being annoyed at Bowser in the Fire Sea though.

Skill improves = Games seemingly get easier.
