...How the capacity (I think) of the DS' multiplayer mode isn't used in any game? I think the only place it's used is in PictoChat. Is this because they realized that it wouldn't work except in PictoChat, or do you thing they're just being lazy?

You don't mean download play, do you? If so, that's in a lot of games...

Well, I mean that the capabilities of the DS' multiplayer (16 total attached) is only used in PictoChat.

I'm sure there will be a game along eventually that will use the 16 player capability.

I think Mario Kart DS had eight player multiplayer mode, but I guess it's because say... 16 player Metroid Prime Hunters or Mario Kart would be insane...

If they don't take advantage of it, a 3rd party hopefully will. EA led the charge with Wii by making MoH: Heroes 2 32-online multiplayer. Nintendo is sitting on there hand though, and it is getting annoying. They have the potential to make greater things, but they know what sells and are only putting that out.

What Nintendo has to realize is that there's even larger potential for the Wii/DS if they expand their WiFi capabilities. Look at Xbox Live. It has over 60 million subscribers. At any one time there are probably around 10-25 million online. If Nintendo tapped into the online market for gamers, the boundaries would be endless.

Too bad they refuse to kill the MarioZombeh.

Unfortunately, Nintendo spews out kiddie games, 3rd parties seem to be the only reliant ones for anything rated M.

Indeed. However, I find the third party games more fun. Except Brawl. That's one of my favorite non-third party games. And UC. One of my least favorite third party games. >_<

It's not that I can't shoot, it's the fact that it won't let me move myself. >_< If I could, I'd destroy that game.

Have you thought about picking up Medal of Honor: Heroes 2? That's a good shootan gaem that lets you move.

I like the Mario series! But never the less, I'll tell you that it's because not many games will work with too many players. 16 player Mario Kart or Smash Bros? That'd be like a war zone come literal, with like 50 Blue Shells a race or 20 Final Smashes a match... Would you want to be knocked off again and again by a massive stream of go karts shooting down Rainbow Road armed to the teeth with weapons in sequence? Then miss about 30 seconds because of it, on the last lap and end up needing like 3 Bullet Bills to catch up to the front, then getting hit by the Triple Blue Shells last place gets? Again, Light weights in Kart and slow characters in Melee would be literally fried by the amount of random idiots... The vast majority of games would just be too frantic with too many players, and adding players each generation won't help the fun much, especially in the really luck based ones... *Shudders at 30 player Mario Party...*

But yes, certain types of games would work with more players, just that they need some new franchises for these different kinds of multiplayer.

That's what I have a 360 for... I use it for my online shooters.

Just wondering...What's the max in XBox Live? Like number of players. It's probably pretty high because it's a high power system. If there is a limit...

Currently, it only goes up to 32 as far as I'm aware. I'm sure, given a bit more time, it will go up.

I still don't think a lot of games would work with 30 players or more...

Some game is going to have 60+ I think. I can't remember what the name is but I thought I saw something about it at Nonstop Gaming at GameFAQs.

There is the possibility of it going up to 60. As I said, I'm not aware of games that hold over 32 players.

16 player MPH = freaking WAR!!! But yeah, I think 8-12 player MPH would be nice. With 16 player you wouldn't be able to fit them all in small places like Combat Hall or Processor Core. Also, the PSP makes use of up to 16 players, I think the DS should too.

True, but they'd need to change the battle arenas massively, because small ones would not work with a lot of human players shooting each other...

Plus, you have to consider that Mario Kart wouldn't work with 16+ players, because the item system would be absolutely ridiculous at that level...
