Because as I said before, there are a lot of re-used ideas in their games, often brought from one series to another. A few examples I can prove of this are:
Huge Ghosts made of small ghosts:
Boolossus is made of 15 Boos, and is in Luigi's Mansion.
Jalhalla is made of about 15 poes, and is in the Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker.
Atomic Boo is made from 50 Boos, and is in Paper Mario 2.
Pits of many trials:
The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker had the 51 floor savage labyrinth.
Paper Mario 2 had the Pit of 100 Trials
Twilight Princess had the Cave of Ordeals
Super Paper Mario has two pits of 100 trials and a continous battle vs 100 enemies in a row.
Little unoriginal don't you think there? Think they really, really overused that side quest idea? Oh, and all had a difficult challenge at the end, normally a boss.
Vacuums and Poltergusts:
Luigi's Mansion had the Poltergust
The Minish Cap had you capture a ghost in the Gust Jar, and you could also capture Ghinis in it.
Mario Party Advance had a gaddget, similar to the Poltergust, called the Porta Gust.
And Mario Party 7, had a coin vacuum, also by E Gadd.
Just some quick examples of Nintendo non originality. Plus, who says going around planets is original in Galaxy? Note how you went right round a planet against Rapheal the Raven in this Yoshi's Island boss battle:
