In Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, you'll probably realise that the entirety of the interior is only accessible to Bowser himself, and that neither Mario nor Luigi get to experience most of this area of the game. Well, fear not, in a similar way to many people before, albeit with a greater emphasis on screenshots, I have now found out exactly what happens when you mess around in Peach's Castle with the Mario brothers, and I've been fighting the Bowser only enemies as Mario and Luigi!

Fighting Two Naplocks and one Dark Trashure as the bros.

First of all, you are most probably wondering exactly what happens if you encounter a Bowser only enemy as Mario or Luigi. Well, to put it simply, most of them still work like any other enemy, and the designers even figured out ways for the Marios to counter their attacks. For Dark Trashures, you jump over harmful spat out items, for Naplocks you stand still to avoid green bubbles and jump up at each thrown block to smash it and avoid taking damage. For Dark Mechawfuls... awkward situation. You can battle them. But their laser attack goes ballistic when Mario and Luigi are in battle, and takes about three or four minutes to finish without doing any damage. The heads will still fly away from battle afterwards if the last objects left on the battle screen.

You can literally prove half the place is filled with the dreaded Insurmountable Waist Height Fences too. Remember all those ledges Bowser couldn't easily climb? About half of them, such as the stove, walls between the statues, ledge seperating the two inner sections of the castle, etc can be climbed very easily by Mario and Luigi just jumping on/over them. But the game adds MORE fences, because Mario and Luigi... can't use all the Bowser walls and specific machinery, so without greater use of moon jump, their route is fenced in as well. Damnit.

This usually requires you to go round. Not with Mario and Luigi.

Same as above, kind of.

You can also, with a lot of tricky exploits, get to the area before the Dark Bowser battle. Here, you'll realise exactly why Chakroads are hidden under objects, because Mario and Luigi get drawn to them, and the game crashes due to not being programmed for usage by the brothers.

Don't touch this Chakroad.

You can also find some funny glitches up here. At the top, the wire mesh panel can be walked straight through by Mario and Luigi, and they can even dig into the hole at the centre of it! The torches light the same when you go down that route, and you can even get it added to your map by exploring it. However, trying to battle Dark Bowser... causes all heck to break lose. Seriously, the game hangs outright, with the bottom screen showing Bowser in Plack Beach stuck on a weird platform with a red button floating in mid air. It looks absolutely ridiculous, and I don't think the fight can even start as Mario or Luigi.

What the hell happened? This was when the final battle was meant to have happened.

Talking of bosses... you can even walk up to Blizzard Midbus as Mario and Luigi. No effect. No, you can't see Mario breathing ice from a nose of a giant evil pig. But you can hit it with a hammer a few thousand times for kicks if you're that bored. That makes me think actually... what would happen if you tried to fight Blizzard Midbus or Dark Fawful as Mario and Luigi? Game crash? Would you be able to counter their attacks with the hammer and jump? And what would be the result if you somehow managed to fight Dark Bowser without the cut scene freezing the game?

Remember this place? You can stand on the stage as Mario and Luigi.

Another interesting point to consider is that you can save here. The save blocks? They auto adjust themselves to whether it's Mario/Luigi or Bowser near them, so basically, you can actually save the game here and continue off without Action Replay codes enabled if you're truly bored and want a bit of entertainment. No harm done either.

I saved the game here.

Finally... the enemies still stalk you if you play as Mario and Luigi rather than Bowser. Tough luck, you'll still get every Dark Trashure, Naplock and Dark Mechawful in the castle trying to beat up Mario or Luigi as soon as they enter the room. You do however get the same prizes from beating them as Bowser, including the same amount of experience points.

And another room.

Hope that was of interest to some people, and I hope they enjoy seeing some of the odd screenshots here.

However, I just found out you can counter a Dark Mechawful's Punch attack as Mario or Luigi with the hammer, and it works perfectly normally, unlike his four minute long near game freeze one.
