The Legend of Zelda- A series made by Nintendo starring a character called Link (not the same in each game) trying to battle evil forces in whatever plot the game has and often save Princess Zelda (aka, the title's namesake). This involves fighting monsters, collecting legendary items, using various items such as the Boomerang, Bow, Hookshot, etc.
Level Warp Codes- Action Replay codes which send you to a specific level when you hold down a button. Removing the button mapping changes them to codes which trap you in the level, causing plenty of weird and slightly dangerous side effects.

LoopProc- Loop Processor- See Elvis' guide here:
Mario (Character). The main character and mascot of Nintendo who stars in various games, mainly in the platform genre. He has a red hat with an M on it, a mustache, white gloves and overalls. His brother is Luigi, he has to save Princess Peach from Bowser and has been in various sub series including Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi, Mario Tennis, Mario Strikers and Mario Land, of various genres.
Mario Series- A series starring Mario. Mainly the platform games where Mario has to jump on enemies, reach flag pole and save Princess Peach from Bowser, but also the Paper Mario series and many, many other spin off series and games starring Mario as the main character. To add to this, this also had cartoons in the form in the Mario Super Show, Super Mario Bros 3 Show and Super Mario World show. And a film which was incredibly awful and nothing like the games. And the Ice Capades which was also crap. The latest (and one of the best games yet) though is Super Mario Galaxy, a ground breaking game involving journeying across various planets in the galaxies and collecting 120 stars while trying to stop Bowser creating his own galaxy in the centre of the universe.
Mariowiki- A wiki (think Wikipedia) about the Mario series (and Donkey Kong, Wario and Yoshi series). It has information on all the games, characters, enemies, items and locations, and often has both official art and/or screenshots and/or sprites of each. It's address is:
http://www.mariowiki.com/Main_Page
Metroid- A series involving Samus Aran against the Metroids and Mother Brain (early games), space pirates, etc. This series involves space and planet exploration and is a part adventure part shooting series which has switched from the 2D platform adventure style to the First Person adventure style with the Metroid Prime series.
Mii- A figure of a player which can be made with the Wii's Mii Channel. They look roughly like the person, and many have also been made of both celebrities and popular fictional characters. Strict, unfair forums like Nsider used to prohibit sharing of these.
Missingno- A glitch pokemon from Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal which was number 0 and appeared as a really glitchy block. Similar pokemon which instead appear as a ? in a circle appeared in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Diamond/Pearl. Missingno comes from 'Missing Number' and hence in the later games is the same icon as a unidentified pokemon.
Mood- A small image that represents your mood. There are many, many of theses, and they represent all kinds of things, ranging from various normal activies and feelings, to things from general gaming, to various online activities to certain things that would be really bad news indeed for the user.
Nintendan- A lead moderator here responsible for many smilies, icons, fan games and banners. He likes Shy Guys and create sprite comics.
Nintendo- The company responsible for the Nintendo DS and Wii as well as the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and Gameboy consoles. Also is responsible for the Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Starfox, Pokemon, F-Zero, Smash Bros, Pikmin and various other series.
Nintendo DS- A console by Nintendo which has two screens, with a touch screen being one of them and also has a microphone. This console, itself the grand basis of DS Ultimate as a website has the power of a Nintendo 64 (or possibly even more if Metroid Prime Hunters and said games are to be believed) and has become incredibly popular thanks to some amazing games that use the features to their fullest including Warioware, Nintendogs and Brain Training. Is the first modern Nintendo console with online play as well, with the incredibly popular Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, Animal Crossing and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl getting widespread popularity. Is a must buy.
Nintendo Nsider Forums- The old Nintendo of America official forums. Known for immature behaviour, but was a really active forum with some nice members who were unfairly treated by the staff. Was closed in September.

Offset- The code to add to the address to convert it from one version of the game to another. To find this, take the memory address of one version and subtract it from the other version.
Official Nintendo Magazine UK- ONM. The official Nintendo magazine in Europe. It's the successor to NOM UK (Nintendo Official Magazine UK).
Out of Bounds- Outside the programmed game world, often reached via a glitch or cheating device like an Action Replay or Gameshark. This is often a major goal for users of moon jump codes or those that want to find the next major glitch in a video game.
PAL- Stuff from/for the European versions of a game. For example, PAL version Action Replay codes only work on the European version of the game, such as the one you'd buy from a non import shop in the UK.
Playing to Win- A series of articles from a book by Sirlin, the author of the site Sirlin.net. A fantastic site about game design in general (albeit at this moment lacking some interesting articles I sometimes wanted to read due to maintenance). Often posted on forums since it's one of the best articles against Scrub behaviour online, and explains the whole concept of different playing styles a whole lot better than many other sites do.
Post- An individual opinion or statement by a forum member in a topic.
Pokemon- A series involving attempting to catch every pokemon and training the pokemon caught to fight both wild pokemon and those of other trainers, and getting the eight gym badges from the leaders at the gyms. Oh, and trying to stop evil organisations such as Team Rocket. There are deeper plot intricacies, but they're pretty much shallow as heck. Oh, and the anime series is nothing much like the games.
PRB; Prolonged Rocket Boosting- A technique in Mario Kart DS involving holding a boost from the starting boost or from a zipper and then constantly mini turboing to keep speed and cut across any surface without slowing down.
Quantifier digits- A set of digits (often two or three) which represent part of a code indicating the type of item, character, item, power, etc. This means changing just these two digits can change the code massively and allow creation of multiple such codes from a single template.
An example (bolded):
0209f2f8 00000031
Rainbow Cruise- Rainbow Ride
Rainbow Cup- A rumoured cup in Mario Kart DS. It doesn't exist, but supposedly would have consisted of Rainbow Road versions from all games in the series.
Replacement codes- Codes which replace an object in a level with another object, often from the same level.
Rickroll- A fad involving the posting of a link to a video supposedly of something new and interesting, but what turns out to be a link to this annoying music video. There is another version with a moving video with traps you in the page and the alerts say the lyrics to the music.
ROFL- Roll on the Floor Laughing
Rupees- The points you get from posting at DS Ultimate, that have no real purpose, and also the money from the Legend of Zelda series.
Scrub- Someone who is not playing to win. Someone handicapped by self imposed rules that are not set by the game developers themselves or any official guidelines. And according to TV Tropes, someone who thinks their house rules should be imposed on everyone due to a twisted sense of 'fair play' and 'fun'. Will often appeal to the notion of 'playing for fun' amd 'way it's meant to be played' for their arguments.
Shortcut- A technique, glitch or trick to save time in a game, especially those of the racing genre.
'Snaking'- A slang name for a technique in Mario Kart and other games involving the use of alternating mini turbos on a straight road. Also one of the most argued techniques in video games among the rather idiotic Gamefaqers.
Snow Land- Snowman's Land.
SSMT; Straight Stretch Mini Turbo- Any use of mini turbos on a straight road. 'Snaking' is a slang name for a subset of this.
Subscription- An Action Replay subscription is a list of codes which can be imported direct to your Action Replay Code Manager and Action Replay from a website on the internet. Examples of subscriptions can be found here:
Action Replay code subscriptions on DS Ultimate
Super Smash Bros- A series by Nintendo which is pretty much a free for all fighting game starring a wide range of characters from all their series, Mario, Link, Samus, Pikachu, DK etc included. These games also have a lot of stages based around the games, items, assist trophies and normal trophies based around the games and music based around the games. They are high sellers and popular because they are just that extensive, with literally hundreds of different ways to play, game modes and well... everything.
Teresa House- Big Boo's Haunt in Mario 64 DS
Tibi Deka- Tiny Huge Island
Topic- A specific discussion in a forum made up of numerous posts by members.
TUK; TheUltimateKoopa- A Lead Moderator at the DS Ultimate forums who is a MIDI composer and video game expert. Holds the record for times banned from Gamefaqs unfairly. Is named after the music title for the last Bowser battle music in Super Mario 64.
Turpinator- A brilliant emblem designer for Nintendo DS games, he is a key moderator here.
Undergrunt Gunner- A blue/yellow mole boss from Super Mario Galaxy. It pilots a water cannon in two levels, and an electricity cannon in another. Oddly enough, it's never shown in the official artwork for the game.
vBulletin- The forum software that the DS Ultimate forums use. It's a great piece of software which has a lot of features, multiple add ons, etc. Cheat-master30, aka the administrator here is also a member at the official vBulletin forums and a Coder/Designer at vBulletin.org
Version- A game version is a version of the game, with certain characteristics as released in a certain part of the world. For example, there is version 1 of Mario 64 DS with more glitches and certain codes which work for it (NINTENDUDCT's codes) and the PAL version of the game, released in Europe with less glitches and different compatible codes (like those codes I create).
Wario- The greedy anti hero from the Wario Land and WarioWare series of games. His name is based off a Japanese word and Mario, meaning 'Bad Mario', he really likes garlic and money, and originally debuted in Super Mario Land 2 Six Golden Coins.
Wario Land- A Platform adventure series of games starring Wario. Wario Land 1 had him going to Kitchen Island for treasure after hearing Captain Syrup had stolen a statue of Princess Peach, Wario Land 2 had him taking revenge of Captain Syrup and the pirates after they attack his castle and steal his treasure, Wario Land 3 has him in a music box world and getting treasure after being promised stuff by a hidden figure who turns out to be the evil Rudy the Clown, Wario Land 4 had him heading off to the Golden Pyramid for more treasure and eventually beating the Golden Diva and Wario Land The Shake Dimension had him heading to the Shake Dimension after being told about the Infinite Coin Purse by a Merfle, who'd escaped from the evil Shake King who had captured Queen Meralda and taken over the Shake Dimension. Wow, that was a lot of writing.
Water Boots- A Beta item from The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker
Water City- Wet-Dry World in Mario 64 DS
Wii- Nintendo's latest home console utilising motion sensing controls. It's a powerful piece of kit which will transform gaming/has transformed gaming and is one of their most popular modern consoles. Comes with Wii Sports and has some great games in it's library such as The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Paper Mario and Mario Kart Wii. The name is based on 'we' from Nintendo's appeal to all types of people.
X-Naut- An evil organisation from Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. Their leader, Lord Grodus was trying to revive the Shadow Queen to rule the world. Another of their leading members, Lord Crump was often seem through Mario's quest trying to defeat him and cause general havoc, often using various paper thin disguises in the process.
X-Naut Legion- An optional usergroup based on the X-Naut group from Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door.
Yoshi- A green dinosaur character that's found in the Mario series. Oddly enough, the name itself can refer either to a certain green Yoshi or the entire species. They can eat enemies and turn them into eggs to throw at enemies, and a certain Yoshi is the hero in the Yoshi's Island series of games, where he helps Baby Mario (and various other babies in the sequel) save Baby Luigi and various others from Bowser and Kamek.
Zelda- The princess from the Legend of Zelda series. Is a different person in most of the games due to the timeline. Never use this name to refer to the hero of the series, that character's name is LINK.
1337- A type of language similar to text speak with numbers and symbols representing words. 1337 kinda means elite. A set of characters in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time were meant to be parodies of this kind of speaking, and spoke in 1337. They were called the '1337 HAMM3R BROZ'.
