Nickyivyca's Broken DS

Breaking it: The first time

=================================================================================

Day after day in late 2007, I played my DS again and again. One day I saw a piece of it fall off as I took it out of the drawer I kept it in. I looked at it closer, and noticed that a piece was missing right at the left part of hinge. This way it could shift in and out on this side. I kept on playing it like this. The next weekend I took it out in the morning and tried playing it. THe DS refused to start up. So I brought it into the kitchen where my mom was cooking breakfast. She noticed it and we set up a repair. We used the option of getting a UPS form. It took a LONG time for the form to come. On the Sunday of that weekend, I found DSU and registered there. My first post was on the subject in cheat's thread "Has your DS ever gotten injured?" Sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday the form came and we put it on a box.

The next day was the lsat day of school before winter break. So right after school on the minimum day we went to the UPS office nearest to our house and dropped it off. We received a notice that it had been received at the repair place (somewhere in Washington). For video games I used my GBA SP. During the next week, my DS arrived in the mail, fixed and working. It had been wiped of its data, so I put back in the same info that I had used before. I had successfully gotten my DS back into working order.

Breaking It: The second time

=================================================================================

THe next time it broke was more abrupt. I had been playing it and was getting angry at the game. So I tossed it against the wall. Nothing happened except it bounced back and landed safely on my bed, where I had been playing. I did this a few more times. THen I was getting angry again, this time I was playing on my DS, and tossed it at the wall again. It bounced back, but the cap above the R button flew off. It had been weakened by me throwing it. So I saved and quit SM64DS and took a look at the damage. Nothing bad. Just the cap had flown off. I put it back on and decided to try not to throw it against the wall again.

I couldn't prevent myself from throwing it again. When I did, the screen flopped after the cap popped off, which it did often. But there was another thing wrong: The screen's colors had gone all weird. Since it was during the school week and I wasn't 'supposed' to be playing my DS, I decided that I would leave it alone until the weekend when I could back up my Wifi stuff to my brother's DS. I believe it was Wednesday. The next day was the bad day.

I was playing SM64DS, again, when I wasn't 'supposed' to be playing it. But I was angry that Luigi didn't grab the 100 coin star as he was falling. I was trying to get the effect of having less than 100 coins in a level but having the star. Since he didn't, I got angry and tossed it at the wall. This time the cap came off, as well as the halves flying off in different directions. I was on the brink of tears as I secured the pieces together. Then on the weekend I pretended to drop it and break it then so I wouldn't get in trouble for playing it when I wasn't 'supposed' to. So they said they weren't going to help me. I agreed, saying that they wouldn't pay a cent of the repair. Then today when I'm writing this, I haven't made any call to Nintendo about not wiping my DS' memory, as well as trying to set up a repair. My DS is sitting in my drawer full of all of my tech stuff when it's not in use, useless. And I hope it won't be like that for long.
