Mario and Luigi Bros Items
Fear no longer if you are finding the bros items difficult to use, or don't know how to use them! This neat guide says exactly how to use each item, and when to use it!
Green Shell
When to use: Against a single powerful enemy early in the game. Like Swiggler.
How to use: Press the button of the Brother using it to kick the shell, and when it hits the enemy, then press the item of the Baby who is on the shell. Hit the item of the other brother when it reaches them. You press A for Mario, B for Luigi, X for Baby Mario and Y for Baby Luigi.
Red Shell
When to use: Against a powerful normal enemy late in the game, like a Snoozorb in Princess Peach's Castle, in the past.
How to use: Same way as the Green Shell, it just lasts longer, and targets a different enemy after the first one dies. Helpful for Snoozorbs, Tanoombas and Shroob Rexes.
Bro Flower
When to use: Against multiple enemies at any time.
How to use: Hammer the button of the Brother who first uses it, then the other one when it is passed to the second brother. Repeat until the item wears out/enemies die. You can press X or Y to make the babies throw high fireballs and destroy flying enemies.
Ice Flower
When to use: Same as Bro Flower
How to use: Same as Bros Flower. It does lower enemy defense though, so it comes in helpful against boss enemies.
Smash Egg
When to use: Pretty much never
How to use: Hold the button of a bro, and release when the egg comes down, then repeat for the other one. A rare item may come out of this when it breaks.
Cannonballers
When to use: Against a boss early on (and ammunition for later) when there's only one target to attack.
How to use: Use the button of the Bro holding the cannon to place it, then press the button for each brother when they come down on the enemy.
Trampoline
When to use: Against a horde of powerful enemies. Or in a boss battle where the boss has a lot of health, multiple parts, or both.
How to use: Same as a cannonballer, except the attack lasts until all the targets on screen die. Useful for bosses like Princess Shroob.
Pocket Chomp
When to use: Against a group of enemies at the latter areas in the game.
How to use: Press the button of the brother when he jumps on the enemy. Also, press the button of the baby brother when he goes past the enemy behind the Chain Chomp.
How not to use: Don't press the button of the baby who's riding the chomp. This will make it go faster, and end the attack sooner than normal.
Copy Flower
When to use: Against a powerful boss enemy. These are rare remember, and expensive!
How to use: Press the button of the clone brother as he lands on the enemy. Repeat until either all enemies die or you miss once.
Mix Flower
When to use: Either in boss battles such as the final one, or as a nuclear missile against groups of enemies if you have the Ultima Free badge.
How to use: Press the brother who has the fireballs buttons to keep making the fireball larger, and then when the fireball goes to another brother, keep pressing that brother's attack button. Do not press the button for any other character than who has the item, as this makes the fireball fall faster, and the attack weaker. When it falls too low, all characters will run in multiple directions and the fireball will obliterate everything on the screen at once, often for massive damage.
Tips:
Use a powerful bros item against Swiggler when he is poisoned, to finish the battle quicker.
Use a powerful item against Sunnycide when he's paralysed, ending the battle quicker.
When Petey Piranha is in the ground, use a Red Shell to hit him for massive damage.
Use one trampoline or another infinite item on Princess Shroob (younger) to destroy the force field, then another in the second brother's turn to cause massive damage to the actual boss.
Against the final form of Princess Shroob, Mix Flower to destroy the tentacles and feet, then a cannonballer to destroy the crown. And then everything you have at her actual body.
Since Ice Flowers lower defence, they are excellent against tough enemies and bosses.
Use Mix Flowers and the Ultima Free badge to obliterate Soul Bubbles before they can fight back, and the Shroob Rexes which fight with them.
