Debug Guide Part 1

SECTOR I

CHAPTER 1: Intro to the Debug Menu

So pretty much anyone who’s on this site and owns Super Mario 64 DS knows about the debug menu but what this is for is to help you understand the codes and what exactly happens when the game freezes.

So first off, just what is the meaning of debug? Well I looked it up and here is the meaning: a methodical process of finding and reducing the number of bugs, or defects, in a computer program or a piece of electronic hardware thus making it behave as expected. Debugging tends to be harder when various subsystems are tightly coupled, as changes in one may cause bugs to emerge in another. * So now you know the basics and can move on to chapter 2.

CHAPTER 2: Ways to enter the Debug Menu

There are actually many different ways to get into the debug menu the simple way of putting it is freeze the game but I’m here to tell you not only exactly how but glitches that will get you in. Since in the real game the first part of getting in is glitches so here are some safe glitches to freeze the game (a glitch with an ! by it means potentially unsafe)

Multiple Hat Glitch: First enter Snowman’s Land on the first star, Then get blown off the bridge DO NOT IMMEDIATELY GO GET YOUR HAT, Then go get the box by Yoshi’s Ice Sculpture and throw it at the snowman with your hat Repeat this procedure more and more hats will come until the game freezes.

Yoshi’s Invisi-box (courtesy of cheat_master30): First swallow a goomba and turn it into an egg, Then Jump on another goomba and at the exact same time you land on him throw the egg, you now should be holding an invisible box. Some sources say the closer you are to the mountain the quicker it will freeze but I have not had much luck with that However it has worked once or twice. My methods have mostly included:

• Being blown up by a bob-omb,
• Collecting a red coin once things start becoming invisible.

Action Replay Required: First on the action replay menu move down to Power flower abilities Select Wario’s power then go into any water the game should freeze.
