Chapter 1: Discovery of Dragons

"Lance, your breakfast is getting cold, Lance's mom, Maria, yelled. Lance opened his eyes, stretched, and walked to the bathroom. He grabbed his toothbrush, put toothpaste on it, and brushed. Lance then spit out the excess toothpaste, and went down for breakfast. Maria smiled at Lance as he ran down the steps. "Hi mom." Lance cheerfully said. "How did you sleep, sweetie?" Maria asked as she poured her morning coffee. Lance grabbed the toast from the table and stuffed it in his mouth. "Fine. I have to run, Lorelei and me are gonna go to Viridian City. She got a Seal for her birthday, so we can go into the tall grass." Lance said in a muffled voice. "All right, but be back soon!" Maria told Lance as she sipped from her mug of coffee. Lance ran out the door.

"Hey, Lance! Ready to go to Viridian?" Lance's friend, Lorelei, asked, when Lance came outside. They both lived in Pallet Town, and Viridian City was right next door. Lance smiled and ran over to her. "Hey Lorelei. Yeah! Let's go!" Lance said, starting to run off. Lorelei smiled, and shouted "Hey! Wait for me!"

They both ran as fast as they could. Pokemon followed them, but they didn't care. Lance looked back, and saw Lorelei. Man, she's beautiful. he thought. He was so busy looking at Lorelei he accidentally tripped over something. He looked, and saw it was a Dratini. It was very young, because it looked bruised just because of the trip. "Lorelei, we have to get this Dratini to the Pokemon Center!" Lance shouted. Lorelei finally caught up to Lance, and looked at the Dratini. "Oh my! Lets go and get him to the pokemon center!" she said. They ran as fast as they could, holding the hurt Dratini.

Chapter Two: Lance's First Pokemon

Lance and Lorelei finally arrived at Viridian City's Pokemon Center. They ran in, hurriedly. Lance panted. "Excuse me miss," Lance said to Nurse Joy, "We found this bruised pokemon on Route 1. Can you heal it for us?" Nurse Joy smiled. "Of course I can, you cute little kiddo! Lemme see him…" Lance handed the Dratini over, "…and I'll put him in the healing machine. Say, does he have an owner?" Lance looked at Lorelei. Lorelei had a confused look on her face. "Um, I don't think so. We found him out in the open." Lorelei told Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy nodded. "All right then. You two are now the owners of this Dratini." Lance's eyes widened. Lorelei turned to Lance. "Lance, you can keep him. I already have a pokemon, and I'm interested in Ice pokemon, not Dragon." Lorelei said to Lance. Lance smiled. "I just realized something Dragon pokemon are great!" Lance admitted with a smile.

The two exited the pokemon center. Nurse Joy had given Lance a pokeball to keep the Dratini in. He was a cute little one. Lance looked at the pokeball, and it shined in the sunlight. "So this is what it's like to have a pokemon," Lance said, still staring at the pokeball. Lorelei looked into space. "Yeah. It's a really big responsibility, but it makes you realize what the world really has to offer. It's not just limited to Pallet Town, or that vacation we went on to Cinnabar Island. It's really something," Lorelei said, and smiled. Lance grinned, and sat down on the sidewalk. "So, what do we do now?" Lance asked Lorelei. Lorelei was confused. "I'm not sure, but I've always wanted to be a trainer. Should we be a pair?" Lorelei asked. Lance realized what this meant. The girl of his dreams, asking if he would join her in traveling the world, battling people and getting badges. This was what Lance dreamed about. Lance smiled proudly. "Yes. Let's be a pair."

Chapter Three: The Pokedex

Lance and Lorelei walked home. Before they became trainers, they had to talk with their own mom and see if it was all right. Lance didn't think his mom would approve, but hopefully she would.

Lance opened his house door. "M-mom?" he said quietly. Maria was reading the Viridian City Times. She looked over, and said, "Yes dear?" Lance closed the door slowly. Lance walked toward his mom. He smiled, and kissed her cheek. Finally, he said, "I found a pokemon. I'm keeping him. It's a Dratini." His mom grinned. Then she jumped up in joy, and ran around the room. "Oh Lance! I knew this day would come!" she shouted in excitement. Lance's cheeks turned pink. "Aww mom, it's no big deal. Calm down," he told Maria. Maria stopped, and went upstairs. Lance looked surprised. What is she doing? he thought. He herd crashing and banging upstairs. Then, it stopped, and he heard footsteps coming down the staircase. Maria appeared, and gave Lance a dusty orange object. Lance looked confused, and asked, "What is this?" Maria smiled, and told Lance, "It's a Pokenav. It's like a phone, map, and trainer checker all in one. I mean, you do wanna be a trainer, right?" Lance smiled. "It's like you read minds, mom!" They hugged each other. Then, Maria frowned. She said, "Listen Lance, the world of pokemon can be dangerous and confusing. If at any time you don't understand something, feel free to call me and ask me for advice." Suddenly, the door opened.

Professor Oak stepped in. "I've heard you want to be a trainer, Lance. Am I right?" he asked Lance. Lance nodded. Professor Oak then said, "Well, you need a pokedex. A trainer is nothing without one. If you fill it up, I will give you a prize. I have already given one to your friend Lorelei. Here you are." Oak handed Lance the pokedex. "Well Lance, I'll miss you. Take care of yourself." Maria said, tears coming to her eyes. Lance smiled. "Bye mom. Thank you Professor." Lance said. He ran out the door, ready to start his new life.

Chapter Four: Viridian Forest

Lorelei was waiting outside for Lance. "What did your mom say? My mom said it was ok!" Lorelei asked. Lance smiled, and said, "I'm a trainer!" Lorelei happily said, "Yes!" and hugged Lance. Lance hugged her back. Lorelei then stopped hugging him and told him, "Our first stop should be Pewter City. It's where the first gym is!" Lance nodded. Then ran off.

After about a mile of running, they reached the entrance to Viridian Forest. "Ladies first." Lance said. "Aww Lance, loosen up a bit!" Lorelei said excitedly. They ran inside the forest. It was a very lush place. The forest had many beautiful plants, with Combees flying around them. They past two Caterpies, and their mother, a Buterfree, which was huddled up near a tree. Pikachus ran freely, being very whimsical. "It's all so beautiful," Lorelei told Lance. Lance looked around the forest heaven, and smiled. "You're right," he replied.

They walked for a little bit, admired the scenery, trained against a few Weedles, and pet a few Pikachus. Finally, they reached the exit. Standing next to the exit were two boys with their butterfly catching nets. "Hey, you two! We protect the door to Pewter City! You must beat us to get past!" the first boy said. Lorelei chuckled and smirked. "Well, then a battle it shall be. Ready Lance?" Lorelei asked. Lance nodded, and sent out Dratini. Lorelei sent out Seal, while the first boy sent out Kakuna and the second boy sent out Metapod.

Lorelei started it off. "Seal, tackle!" she shouted. The Seal growled and then flew itself at the Kakuna. Just as Seal hit it, it used Harden. The first boy shoved his hair back, and shouted, "Kakuna! Poison Sting that Dratini!" The Kakuna shot a little stinger at Dratini. Lance knew what to do. "Dratini, dodge and use wrap!" Dratini swiftly dodged, and wrapped himself around the Kakuna like a boa constrictor. Kakuna turned white, and fell to the ground. The first boy ran away in tears. Lance grinned. "Well, Lorelei, you have the honors of finishing off the Metapod." Lance told Lorelei. "Seal, Icy Wind!" Lorelei shouted. Seal shot blasts of Ice at the Metapod, and it fell on the forest floor. The second boy ran off. Lorelei and Lance returned their pokemon to the pokeballs, and ran through the gate to Pewter City…

Chapter 5: The Young Fighter

Pewter City was a rocky kind of place. There was a fossil museum in the back, and a gym in the center. The ground was a mahogany-like-color, and the whole city smelled like rocks. Lance breathed, and said, "Lets go heal our pokemon." They walked to the pokemon center, remembering the battle they just had. Was there any way that they could have done it faster? Lance and Lorelei had no idea. Just as they were approaching the pokemon center… BAM! The two ran into a buffed-up kid. "Sorry! I wasn't paying attention," the boy said. Lance got up and brushed off his clothes. "It's ok," Lance told him, "We were just headed to the gym." Lorelei The boy laughed. "Brock? Well, he's easy if you've got a Machop. If you want, you can use him to beat the gym. Just paying you back," The boy said. He handed out the pokeball, and said, "By the way, my name's Bruno." Lance and Lorelei looked at each other, and nodded. They had thought of a plan. "Bruno," Lorelei said, "Do you want to travel with us?" Bruce was surprised. No one had asked him if he wanted to go anywhere anytime ever. So he smiled, and said, Yeah! I'd love that!"

Lance then told Bruno, "If we are a team of three, that means we all get one badge. One of us will fight each Gym Leader, depending on the Gym Leader's pokemon. You already have Brock's badge, so we can head to Cerulean City." Bruno nodded, and told Lance, "That also means we have to cross over Mount Moon, so that could be trouble." Lorelei nodded, and added, "So we really need to work as a team." They all smiled and nodded. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Lance said. They ran off.
