Weapon Data
Below is information on all the weapons in Metroid Prime Hunters, what they are, where you get them, who generally uses them and more. Note that the title is deliberately misleading, as data is what the game calls anything, regardless of how informational.
Power Beam
The main and weapon you start equipped with in this game, the power beam is the weapon which fires from the Arm Cannon, and is used for basic attacking, and opening flimsy doors.
Arm Cannon Log Book Information:
An essential part of Samus's Power Suit, the arm cannon is upgradable and adaptable to other weaponry. To fire the weapon, press the fire button. Switch weapons by tapping the weapon icons at the top of the touch screen.
Power Beam Log Book Information:
The atandard issue power beam has limited offensive capability and unlimited ammunition. As with all weapons, press and hold the fire button to attract energy and ammo, and to charge up the shot. Release to fire a powerful blast. This weapon overheats quickly and works best when fired in controlled bursts.
Hunters with it by default: All
When to use: Take down weak enemies, attract items, blast plants and doors, quick shots.
When not to use: Against anything hugely tough, such as most bosses and Gorea.
Missile Launcher
This is simply the weapon which launches missiles, which in this game, as always are highly explosive weaponry that detonate in a percussive blast. This is effective against the tougher enemies.
Log Book Information for Missile Launcher:
Launches explosive tipped missiles that explode in a percussive blast. This standard issue weapon is extremely effective in dealing with biological threats. Hold the fire button to charge the weapon and cause the missile to seek heat signatures. Charging will attract energy and ammo.
Hunters using it by default: All in multiplayer
Affinity of: Samus Aran, and when charged, these missiles seek the heat signatures of the target, which is helpful when a hunter is invisible.
When to use: Against powerful foes such as Guardians, Hunters, Bosses and to destroy re-spawn triangles.
When not to use: At close range, against minor enemies, to open doors and the like.
Morph Ball Bomb
This is the standard issue bomb weaponry which is the attack method when Samus uses the Morth Ball. Three bombs can be in use at once, but ammo is infinite. You can use the explosions to do a bomb jump to higher ledges.
Log Book Information for Morph Ball:
Samus has the ability to transform into a ball that can move at high speeds and access areas her bipedal form cannon. To enter the alt form, tap the icon in the lower corner of the touch screen. Use the control pad or A, B, X and Y buttons to move the Morph Ball. Use the touch screen for more precise control with gentle strokes in the desired direction. Boost by quickly using the stylus across the touch screen in the desired direction or pressing the boost button.
Log Book Information for Morph Ball Bomb
Small bursts of energy detonate from the Morph Ball shortly after being triggered. Ideal for opening secret passages and eliminating small creatures. Press the fire button while in Morph Ball mode to place the bombs. Bomb jumping is possible by triggering bombs with proper timing.
When to use: To go through small passages, to move at speed and to bomb jump. Also to eliminate small creatures and fast moving pests like Guardians. Also against Sylux in Vesper Defence Outpost.
When not to use: Against bosses is suicidal.
Notes: There are six different alt forms, and you can only use the one in multiplayer which goes with the hunter you are using. Kanden becomes the Stinglarva, Spire the Dialanche, Weavel the Half-Turret, Sylux the LockJaw, Noxus the Vhyosyche and Trace the Triskellion. They each have different abilities, so refer to the hunters page for more information.
Battlehammer
A relatively powerful weapon found in Vesper Defence Outpost, this weapon has quite high fire power, but fires in an arch way. Has a kind of rapid fire option by holding down the fire button.
Log Book Information:
The Battlehammer is powered by a miniature nuclear reactor. This heavy duty repeater is recommended only for those familiar with some high caliber weaponry.
When to use:
- For rapid fire blasting
- To destroy certain shields
When not to use:
- For everyday combat
Hunters using it by default: Weavel
Affinity of: Weavel
Judicator
This powerful weapon fires super cooled plasma, and has a very annoying feature in that its shots bounce off walls in various directions. You get this in Acterra, and it is forever useful against fire/magma based enemies, where it does a ton more damage.
Log Book Information:
The Judicator is powered by cold fusion synthesis. It fires supercooled plasma at temperatures approaching absolute zero.
When to use:
- Against anything with fire or magma in it's name, or anything that shoots magma.
- To blast certain shields
- Against Spire
When not to use:
- Against ice creatures
- Against Noxus
Hunters using it by default: Noxus
Affinity of: Noxus, who can use it to freeze enemies temporarily in a block of ice, even if they are are miles above or below him vertically.
Volt Driver
This electricity shooting weapon isn't really that useful in single player mode, but it has a neat effect in multiplayer if you are Kanden. For some reason, charging does not take away more ammo than normal shots when using this weapon, which is interesting.
Log Book Information:
The Volt Driver draws energy from the planetary electromagnetic field and converts it into multi-terawatt bursts of high voltage.
When to use:

Hunters using it by default: Kanden
Affinity of: Kanden, who when he uses it, causes the targets vision to be distorted.
Shock Coil
Arguably one of the coolest weapons in the game, you first find out it's annoying power against Sylux, where he uses it's auto lock-on effect to drain your health with this piece of weaponry. The auto lock-on is incredibly useful against later bosses such as Slench and Cretaphid, and also against guardians.
Log Book Information:
The Shock Coil is a prototype weapon that emits a concentrated beam of high density neutrinos within a set radius.
When to use:
- Against fast moving or powerful bosses
- To drain health as Sylux in multiplayer
When not to use:
- Against certain enemies like War Wasps
- Against weak obstacles
Hunters using it by default: Sylux
Affinity of: Sylux, and when he uses it, those hit lose health rapidly which is transferred to Sylux. This is incredibly annoying, but good for you if you're Sylux. Cannot lock on to alt forms by default.
Magmaul
A high temperature magma firing weapon, you get this on the second trip to Alinos. It is extremely effective against enemies based around ice with the high temperature projectiles it fires being extremely effective.
When to use:
- Against ice based foes
- Against Spire
- To destroy orange force fields
When not to use:
- At very close range
- Against fire based creatures
Hunters using it by default: Spire
Affinity of: Spire, and when he shoots someone with it, they get burnt for a while, losing health at a pretty quick rate.
Imperialist
An incredibly useful laser cannon type sniping device, you can use this to kill any hunter or guardian instantly with a zoomed in head shot attack. The zoom makes it extremely good to use against enemies which are a decent distance away, and it is really effective when used by Trace in multiplayer because of his ability.
Log Book Information:
Equipped with a zoom function ideal for precision targeting, the Imperialist fires a thin and lethal laser beam with high accuracy over long distances.
When to use:
- Against enemies at a distance
- As Trace while invisible
- For head shots against hunters and guardians.
- Certain bosses
When not to use:
- At close range
- For speed kills in the open
Hunters using it by default: Trace
Affinity of: Trace. When he is using it, he turns invisible, which is very annoying to the targets.
Omega Cannon
An extremely over powered nuclear weapon found in Oubliette, and only usable in one boss fight and one multiplayer arena, this powerful machine fires a powerful blast of energy which totally obliterates normal enemy creatures (and yourself in multiplayer if you don't go behind cover) and it is the Ultimate Power which can take down Gorea.
When to use:
- Against Gorea
- In Oubliette
When not to use:
When standing anywhere extremely close to someone else unless you want to be roasted.
