Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story Enemies

In Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, there are a variety of enemies, fought both by Bowser and the Mario Bros at different points in the game. There are ways to dodge all their attacks, items dropped only by certain foes and even enemies extra weak to fire.

However, since the game itself does not tell you most of this information, it is up to DS Ultimate, with a fan made guide to give you the lowdown on each and every one of the enemies in the game.

Enemy List

Outside Bowser

Mechawful

A large green robot with the face of Fawful, these are solely found outside Princess Peach's Castle, the final area of the game. If attacked enough, the last thing left will always be it's head (this enemy is one of about three that are impossible to one hit kill as a result).

Punches and fire will always miss the head when it's floating in the air, but Goomba Storm, Shy Guy Squad, Magikoopa Mob and Broggy Bonker can hit the head as it floats in the air. Mario and Luigi can attack it with any jump attack or air based special attack.

The enemy may drop Max Mushrooms when defeated.

Experience Given: 450, Coins: 90.

Head; Experience Given: 150.

HP: 280 (about 110 for the head)

Drops: Max Mushroom, 1 Up Deluxe

Attacks

The Mechawful can turn yellow, and fly into the air. It will then move left on the bottom screen, and land next to Bowser (or Mario or Luigi). If Bowser, punch it to make it's chest circle change colour and miss, or punch multiple times to try and defeat it before it slams it's hands at the player character. For Mario or Luigi, hammer it when it lands for the same effect.

It will also fly into the air, off the top screen. Next, the robot will dive down on Mario, Luigi or Bowser respectively. For Bowser, duck into your shell as it's about to hit, and hold down the button to make it shoot sparks and fly back, normally exploding. For Mario or Luigi, hammer the enemy just as it hits to send it away (often into other Mechawfuls).

Vacuum Effect

Using this attack when the head of one or more remains causes Bowser to swallow the Mechawful heads, letting Mario and Luigi battle them. Here, it usually does not attack for a few turns, but will eventually charge up and fall on Mario or Luigi. Hammer the head away to damage it.

Metal Mawful Mole

An apparently robotic mole with Fawful's glasses. These are found outside Princess Peach's Castle along with the Mechawfuls. They cannot be engaged in battle with Bowser directly, but may appear alongside other enemies in combat. They do however attack Mario and Luigi, and can be fought alone by the brothers.

They will run from Bowser if not killed in the first turn. However...

Experience Given: 350, Coins 60.

Attacks

Against Mario and Luigi, they do have various attacks. First is throwing a rock. You have to jump over the rock, or stand still if the rock is thrown high. If the Mole's glasses are visible, jump. If not, stand still.

Said mole will also come out the ground in front of Mario and Luigi a few times, and must be hammered to defeat it, eventually jumping at them if no action is taken. You can easily dodge this by hammering at the right time with both Mario and Luigi to be perfectly honest.

Dark Trashure

A dark purple and grey evil treasure chest, these monsters are only found inside Princess Peach's Castle, and are thus only battled against as Bowser. They fight in much the same way as the usual Trashure enemies.

They can be hit by any of Bowser's attacks.

When damaged just enough, the lock will fall off, and Bowser can vacuum up the coins inside to both defeat the treasure chest and get a great deal of free money. They're a pretty good income source overall.

Experience Given: 640, Coins: Over 100.

HP: 342-360

Drops: Ultrasyrup Jar, Minion Band SP

Attacks

Like it's easier brethren found in Dimble Wood, Dark Trashures only have one attack, and that is to shoot treasure at Bowser. Use X to punch away the hammers, scuttle bugs, cannonballs and other dangerous items, but ignore the mushrooms and coins, since these give Bowser either more money or some health restoring respectively.

Naplock

A sleeping orange figure, these mysterious creatures are again only found inside Princess Peach's Castle. Now, they get their name from the simple fact that they are literally always asleep until attacked, and can be awoken by an Alarm Bob-omb (shaped like an alarm clock).

Any attacks will work, but it's best to leave them asleep due to their green snot bubble attack being easier to dodge than their block carrying one.

Experience Given: 580; Coins: 180.

HP: 155-187

Drops: TNT Drumstick

Attacks

First and foremost, their main attack only works when they are asleep. They send out a green bubble towards Bowser which needs to be avoided by pressing Y to make him duck in his shell. This bubble may poison Bowser. However, some bubbles have a Mushroom inside, in which case Bowser should simply not do anything and end up restoring his health.

If the Naplock is awake, they move on to their more aggravating attack. Here, they pick up numerous blocks, and walk towards Bowser. Punch the blocks away, but eventually they'll trip and the blocks shall go flying. Duck in your shell to avoid taking damage at that point.

Alarm Bob-omb

An alarm clock shaped Bob-omb, these are found in Princess Peach's Castle interior, and are usually found in battles with Naplock enemies (see above). If killed before Naplock, the Naplock will wake up more powerful

Attacks

It'll run up and down in front of Bowser. Punch it away when it's in front, but watch out, since it gets faster the longer the attack goes on for. Sometimes, a sleeping Naplock will press the alarm to halt this attack.

Experience Given: 170; Coins: 50; HP: about 120

Drops: Ultra Nut

Dark Mechawful

A dark blue variant of the Mechawful, these are only found deep within Princess Peach's Castle. Taking damage from all attacks, however less due to their strong defence, they often come in teams of two or three, and are probably the toughest enemy in the game physically speaking.

One minor difference of course is that they do not stick around when their head is left alone, unless one or more other enemies is on screen. They can be vacuumed and left for Mario and Luigi to fight, or can generate a new, stronger body if left alone for too long.

Experience Given: 800, Coins: 80.

Head: 200, Coins 40.

HP: 280 (200 odd for the head), same with the S versions

Drops: Star Candy, Power Fangs X

Attacks

Their main attack is to display a timer on their chest, and do a massive punch when it reaches zero (ala, Captain Falcon). Punch when it just gets below 1 or so to counter the punch with Bowser's own punch attack.

The above attack gets messed up to hell deliberately when they get reduced to a head and summon a new body. Here, the timer is pretty much random, so you need to have memorised the timing to know exactly when to counter the attack.

Finally, they have a laser attack. This shows a timer, and a massive laser beam appears from the Antenna on the Dark Mechawful's head. Duck until it gets next to you, then punch it to knock it back. I'm fairly sure it will punch Bowser if he just keeps ducking.

Note: You still get XP if their head flies away at the end of the battle.

Crawful

A green dinosaur like creature found mainly in Bumpsy Plains, these powerful enemies have multiple attacks, and at least look slightly menacing on the field. You can attack them with all special attacks, punch attacks and fire attacks, as well as any attacks from Mario and Luigi.

As far as I know, these are also the only enemies Bowser battles when he is underwater.

Attacks

one attack has the Crawful jump into the air and attempt to slam down. As Bowser, punch it just before it lands to block it's attack. As Mario or Luigi, wait until it lands and quickly jump the shockwave it sends out.

It may also throw a Banana Peel and slide into Bowser, which must be blocked via a well timed punch to the monster's face.

Finally, it may try to eat a bean to restore health. If it's still got it's teeth, it will restore health. If not, the bean will smash down on it's head and often make the Crawful dizzy.

Vacuum Effect

Using this allows you to inhale/swallow the Crawful's teeth, boosting defense and in the process preventing the beast from healing by eating a bean.

Experience Given: 170; Coins: 45

: HP: 173

Drops: Fiery Drumstick, Excellent Ring

Beehoss

Beehoss

Attacks

First attack the Beehoss may use is to send out a Bee to attack either Bowser, Mario or Luigi respectively. Wait until the Bee approaches, then either duck in your shell to knock it down, and punch the bee at the Beehoss (Bowser) or jump the attack (Mario and Luigi).

The creature may also send out the bee to restore the health of other enemies on field, including itself. You cannot interrupt this attack, sadly.

Vacuum Effect

Gives you honey, which restores about 40 HP.

Experience Given: 150; Coins: 40

HP: 200

Drops: Syrup

Flifit

Flifit

A sunflower with the face of a snifit, these bizarre creatures are only found in one certain area of the map. They can be attacked by both punch and fire attacks as well as any special attacks, or any attacks by Mario and Luigi.

They are weak to fire attacks, which cause critical damage against them.

Attacks

The Flifit will fire a Sneed. Make Bowser duck into his shell to dodge the attack.

Vacuum Effect

When this used, any Flifits lose all their petals, and cannot attack for as long as it takes for a Shy Guy with a watering can to restore them back to health. This may take a a long time, giving Bowser a long period on which to unleash all manner of hell upon the creatures.

Experience Given: 50; Coins: 20

HP: 110

Drops: Hot Drumstick, Syrup Jar

Chain Chawful

Chain Chawful

A bizarre brain washed Chain Chomp with what looks to be a Fawful type parasite living in it's head, these creepy beings are found in the Bowser Path, on the way to Bowser's Castle. For Bowser, they're the only enemy that's fightable here.

Attacks

The Chain Chawful will charge at Bowser. Punch at the right time (or hammer with Mario/Luigi) to defeat it/knock it backwards.

A Fawful copter may also appear, so vacuum this with Bowser for the Mario Bros to battle or it'll summon some more Chain Chawfuls. This only happens very rarely.

Vacuum Effect

After using this, Bowser will eat the parasite type thing, and the Chain Chomp will stop being mind controlled. It'll then just run off, albeit with Bowser getting no EXP.

Experience Given: 75; Coins: 30

HP: 165

Drops: Syrup Jar

Sniffle Thwomp

An unwell, blue Thwomp found in Bowser's Castle, these monsters are only really found in the basement, and often battle alongside various other, smaller enemies. They're oddly not weak to fire.

Attacks

Two Shy Guys will pick up the Sniffle Thwomp, and walk towards Bowser. They'll either Throw it, so duck in your shell as Bowser (or hammer when it falls close as anyone else), or walk into the character (Punch as Bowser, or hammer it away as anyone else).

The Thwomp will dive into the air, and either land on or beside you. Punch it away if next to you (makes you ill if it hits) or hammer with Mario or Luigi. Duck in shell when it falls directly on you.

Vacuum Effect

Bowser will suck up the ice bag, causing the Thwomp to become red hot and start losing damage at the rate of about 86 health lost a turn.

Experience Given: 400; Coins: 60

HP: About 255

Drops: Supersyrup Jar, Glutton Ring

Jailgoon

Very much a strange robot creature found in Bowser's Castle, these things look like cages holding Goombas or Bob-ombs inside, and are armed with cannons for arms and a red flashing light on their head. Oddly enough, they have different effects based on the trapped minion. Using fire on Bob-ombs causes them to explode, taking out the Jailgoom with it, while just freeing either normally causes them to throw a Mushroom to Bowser to heal him.

Nothing happens other than the minion running if defeated by Mario or Luigi.

Attacks

The Jailgoon will aim it's cannon in the air, and fire various cannonballs. Some will fall on Bowser, duck to avoid them, while others will fall near him and bounce to him, punch to send them back at the Jailgoon. I think it requires use of the Hammer as Mario or Luigi when this attack is done.

The Jailgoon will also charge at Bowser or Mario/Luigi. Punch it away repeately until it gives up to avoid damage (again, subsitute 'Punch' for 'Hammer' as Mario and Luigi).

Experience Given: 340; Coins: 55

HP: 180 approx

DropsL Fiery Drumstick

Chuboomba

A massive overweight Goomba with a lollipop, these creatures are found in the outside areas of Cavi Cape (that place near the start with the depressing music). They're Bowser's first opponents, and thus the easiest to defeat.

Attacks

In it's very much basic attack, the creature will simply charge at Bowser (0r Mario/Luigi). Punch it when it draws near (or I think you jump on it as Mario or Luigi) to defeat it easily.

Vacuum Effect

This will cause Bowser to eat the lollipop, restoring 20 health and causing the Chuboomba to run away crying. You get no experience for doing this.

Experience Points: 15; Coins: 4

HP: 50

Drops: Hot Drumstick

Toothy

A bizarre Pokey type creature made solely of teeth, these are the basic enemies that Bowser fights at Plack Beach (I can see a theme with the naming and design here...). They're technically weak to all attacks.

However, if you punch them (or attack them as Mario/Luigi), they become merely a head on the ground, and are now able to take damage. However, the monster can still attack in this state, so watch out!

Attacks

The Toothy spits a fish out at the character. As Bowser, punch it back as it approaches, while I assume Mario or Luigi uses the hammer to counter this attack.

The Toothy will also walk slowly towards Bowser or Mario/Luigi. Now, punch or hammer to send it away and avoid damage.

Vacuum Effect

Bowser sucks up all the body segments of the Toothy, reducing it to the head that can now easily be attacked. This also raises defense.

Experience Points: 18; Coins 5

HP: 25

Drops: Hot Drumstick, Fiery Drumstick

Trashure

A treasure chest type creature found in Dimble Wood. Since this guide has already covered the Dark version found in Princess Peach's Castle, see the entry for Dark Trashure, as this version has the exact same attacks.

Experience Given: 40; Coins: 8

HP: 136

Drops: Syrup Jar, Fast Cash Ring

Treevil

Treevil

An evil moving tree, these are found exclusively in Dimble Wood. As you might guess, they are weak to fire attacks (critical damage), and that they're relatively easy to defeat. Some have an acorn attached (see Vacuum Effect section below for the effect).

Attacks

The Treevil's only attack is to fire one of two possible sticks at Bowser. Some will fly into the air, duck to cause them to break on Bowser's shell, while some will move along the ground, where they can be punched into the Treevil to cause damage. For Mario or Luigi, use Hammer to destroy the sticks instead.

Vacuum Effect

If the Treevil has an acorn, Bowser sucks it up to restore 20 health.

Experence Given: 30; Coins: 8

HP: 95

Drops: Syrup Jar, Hot Drumstick

Choomba

Choomba and Coalbits

Relatively rare steam based Goombas, these are found in the Underground Tunnel and the battle against the Fawful Express. They summon Coalbits, and get mad late in the battle.

They will often inhale any left over Coalbits and use them to turn red, boosting their attack power.

Attacks

The Choomba will first summon three Coalbits, and then charge at Bowser with the sound of a steam train. Punch the creature when it draws close to stop it.

Vacuum Effect

You'll eat the Coalbits and send them to Mario and Luigi to battle.

Experience Given: 120; Coins: 50

HP: 250

Drops: Fiery Drumstick, Power Fangs

Coalbit

Sentinent and evil pieces of coal, these somewhat cute creatures are summoned into battle by Choombas. You can fight them as Mario and Luigi by eating them, or as Bowser by doing otherwise.

These enemies take zero damage against fire attacks.

Attacks

The Choombas will charge at Mario or Luigi, but run away from battle if alone and against Bowser.

If they charge, they'll probably have their jaws pointing upwards. Don't land on them as Mario/Luigi.

Experience Given: 30

HP: 34

Drops: Super Mushroom, Hustle Socks

Mawful Mole

A mole type enemy with Fawful's glasses and general face. Since a more powerful version is covered near the start of this guide, see the entry for Metal Mawful Mole, which has the same attacks and general strategy.

Experience Given: 230; Coins: 45

HP: about 150

Drops: Super Nut, Hustle Socks

Fawflopper

A small green grasshopper which has Fawful's face, these strange creatures are found pretty much in the area just outside of Toad Town.

Attacks

Their first attack is to jump at Mario or Luigi (indicated by the jump icon used to defend). Make Mario/Luigi jump to dodge the attack (and often land on the Fawflopper, dealing damage).

Their other attack is to jump higher into the air as if going up steps. They'll then fall on Mario or Luigi, so hammer them away as they're close to hitting.

Experience Given: 200; Coins: 40

HP: between 90 and 100

Drops: Super Mushroom, Supersyrup Jar

Borp

Borp

The Borp is a tiny purple creature found only in Cavi Cape (they're those weak creatures Bowser get destroy on the field by walking into them or attacking), and you have to go quite far out of your way to battle one. They're weak to all normal attacks, and take critical damage from fire attacks.

Experience Given: 220; Coins: 40

HP: 100

Drops: Super Mushroom, Refreshing Herb

Attacks

Their sole attack as far as I know is to go up to one of the characters, breathe in air a bit, then fire this substance at Mario and Luigi. Jump over it to dodge the stuff.

Drillbit Crab

A crab with a drill for a shell, these tiny creatures are found in Plack Beach and only battled against as Mario and Luigi. They're also common on the cliff area near where you eventually find Chakron.

Attacks

One of their attacks is to aim their drill towards Mario or Luigi and quickly charge at them. Hammer them away as they get close to avoid damage, as this attack can lower your defense temporarily.

They'll also dive into the sand. Next, they'll appear under one brother with the drill sticking a bit out the floor. Time your jump to dodge, and they'll be heading to the other brother, so make him dodge as well.

Experience Given: 240; Coins: 45

HP: about 115

Drops: Super Mushroom, Big Shell

Pendrill

A small angry looking penguin enemy, these are not found on the field but are sometimes fought alongside Drillbit Crabs in battles at Plack Beach. They have no special weaknesses to attacks.

Attacks

The Pendrill will often dive into the sand, and the hammer icon will appear. Hammer it when it comes up on it's own, but when it's holding a rock, ignore it, since the rock contains a Bob-omb!

Experience Given: 260; Coins: 55

HP: About 152-159

Drops: Super Nut, Lazy Scarf

Scutlet

Absolutely tiny spider like bugs, these have the same design as one of the bosses you fought inside Bowser's Body early in the game. They'll always come in groups of five, so watch out! All attacks are effective.

Attacks

The whole group will only attack once per turn. First attack is where one Scutlet walks up to Mario and Luigi, and they have to hammer it to defeat/send it away before it walks into them.

The other attack is the flat out irritating special one. The whole group will move around rapidly, then form into a long line that charges at Mario and Luigi in a certain pattern. Jump to avoid or counter attack the line of bugs.

Experience Given: 120; Coins: 20

HP: about 70

Drops: Super Mushroom, Rugged Socks

Sneed

Tiny enemy sunflower seeds, these are usually fired by Flifits, but can be attacked alone when you're playing as Mario and Luigi. Usually coming in groups of three, these are oddly not weak to fire.

Attacks

Their sole attack is to walk towards Mario or Luigi, and shoot bullets. One bullet gets fired first, jump over it, then another to dodge, then the Sneed can be counterattacked by Mario or Luigi to end the attack.

Experience Given: 200; Coins: 50

HP: 65-96

Drops: Ultra Mushroom, Syrup Jar

Fawful Guy

A Fawfulised Shy Guy wearing an orange robe and a green Fawful face type mask, these small annoying creatures are only battled in the Bowser Path as Mario and Luigi.

Attacks

Main attack is to get out a Parasol, and slowly jump at Mario or Luigi, gliding down slowly. Get them away/counter by hammering them as they're nearly about to reach Mario or Luigi.

Experience Given: 240; Coins: 60

HP: Between 150 and 180

Drops: Ultra Mushroom, 1 Up Mushroom

Magifoofa

Fawfulised Magikoopas with an extremely disturbing facial expression, these are found in the basement of Bowser's Castle, and are only battled by Mario and Luigi. They're vulnerable to all kinds of attacks.

Attacks

Main attack is to shoot various shapes at Mario and Luigi. Some will go straight at them, and some will bounce over them. Jump the ones on the ground, avoid the ones that bounce over their heads.

Another attack, similar to above is shoot a projectile that becomes a bean when it lands. Jump the bean to avoid damage.

Experience Given: 260; Coins: 50

HP: 120

Sockop

A green, Kuribo's Shoe reference/parodying creature found in Dimble Wood, these are fightable only by Mario and Luigi, and are found in a long sequence where you get the Snack Basket attack.

They're weak to fire, which causes critical damage, but will heal if you use jump attacks (hammer A or B to escape from them when caught).

Attacks

The Sockop will run at Mario/Luigi, so jump over them (not land on them), and do the same when they return. They often drop Refreshing Herbs.

Experience Given: 240; Coins 55

HP: 110

Drops: Refreshing Herb, Tip Top Boots

Nooz

A small Mario/Luigi shaped chicken type creature, these are found in the Toad Town Sewers/Caves. They look like their feet are a mustache as well.

Attacks

Their first attack is to stand between Mario and Luigi and shoot clouds of poison at each one. Jump the clouds of poison before they hit to avoid damage.

They also sing a short song, which summons another Nooz to battle.

Another attack is to have one jump on another and be sent upwards, falling on either Mario or Luigi (stops about three times in mid air first). Hammer it before it hits.

They can also just fly up and fall on Mario/Luigi, hammer them away.

Finally, they can also just run over to Mario/Luigi, where they have to be hammered away.

Experience Given: 40; Coins: 20

Fawflant

An ant with Fawful's face, this is the other common enemy in the Toad Town Caves. They can be attacked by any type of attack, and are easy enough to dodge.

Attacks

Their attack is to walk towards Mario and Luigi randomly, then keep going towards one character with their drill. They'll then charge, so hammer them to counter this.

Experience Given: 70; Coins: 30

Drops: Super Mushroom, Supersyrup Jar

Inside Bowser's Body

Spike Blop

A small spiny shelled creature found after you first get the hammer, in the Trash Pit area, these creatures are only able to be attacked via hammer attacks and special abilities.

Attacks

The Spike Blop will head towards Mario or Luigi slowly then walk up to them. Hammer it away when it approaches to avoid taking damage.

Experience Given: 5; Coins: 3

HP: 11/12

Drops: Syrup Jar, 1 Up Mushroom

Goombule

A small cell shaped like a Goomba, these are the basic enemy mook (ironically called 'The Goomba' on TV Tropes) found in Bowser's Body. Also found in the Trash Pit, they are the weakest creatures you can ever find, and are extremely easy to defeat in battle with any sort of attack.

Oddly, shockwave attacks sometimes don't work against them, with Snack Basket only doing about 2 damage in some rare circumstances.

Attacks

The Goombule signals a brother to attack, and rolls at them. Jump on it to counterattack, or jump over it to merely dodge the attack.

The other attack used is the Goombule merely walking over to Mario or Luigi, and charging at them. Jump over or on the Goombule to dodge/counterattack here respectively.

Variant: Some have helmets, and are immune to Jump attacks. Use Special Attacks to defeat them.

Experience Given: 3 for normal variety, 4 for helmet variety; Coins: 2

HP: 8

HP: 15/16 (Elite version)

Drops: Mushroom, Syrup Jar

Bubble Blooper

A massive round blue Blooper, these creatures are found only in the Pump Works, and only at the time when Bowser is drinking water. Being airborne enemies (or, swimming to be precise), they're not affected by Hammer attacks or ground based special attacks, so use jump or air based special attacks to destroy them.

Attacks

Main attack has the Blooper fall down and roll towards Mario and Luigi. Smash the enemy away with the hammer to counter this attack.

It's other attack is to fall down and bounce towards Mario or Luigi. Merely knock them away with a hammer to counter this attack as well.

Dried Blooper

What happens when the Bubble Blooper isn't in water, these common creatures are also only found in the Pump Works, except when Bowser is not drinking water. They're weak to all attacks, not being floating enemies any more, so use whatever attacks you want, hammers included. Fire causes critical damage to them.

Attacks

First and foremost, the main attack seems to be for the Dried Blooper to jump into the air, and glide downwards towards Mario or Luigi, like a paper plane. Jump the Blooper when it gets low enough to hit the character.

For both kinds of Blooper, experience given is ten with four coins given.

HP is 25 for both varieties of Blooper

Drops for both are Mushroom and 1 Up Mushroom

Calorite

Some bizarre fire based creature found solely in the Flab Zone, these enemies are covered with fire, and as such, cannot safely be hit with jump attacks.

Oddly enough, fire attacks deal completely normal damage to these enemies.

Attacks

It's main attack is to get the two sticks it's hold and spark up the flame on it's head, then start rolling across the screen between Mario and Luigi. Make them jump in sequence, as this attack hits about four times.

It will also do a less spectacular attack where a jet of fire comes from it's head, and where it just rolls from one side to the other once. Jump to dodge the jet of flames.

Experience Given: 40; Coins: 20

HP: 84/85

Drops: Nut, Refreshing Herb

Tenderling

A living piece of meat, these creatures are also found within the Flab Zone, and are in fact the most basic enemies fought there. They can be hit with any attack you can use, and are easy to first strike due to the bouncy floors within the area.

Attacks

The Tenderling's main attack is to literally go in front of Mario or Luigi, then roll straight at them. Jump over or on the Tenderling to avoid this attack.

Experience Given: 30; Coins: 12

HP: 43/46

Drops: Mushroom, 1 Up Mushroom

Napse

No idea what these monsters are meant to be, but these weird energy sphere creatures are one of the most common enemies found within the Energy Hold section (as well as their more powerful variants, which appear in a later area). They're levitating enemies, hence not effected by ground based or hammer attacks and are critically weak to fire.

Attacks

Their sole attack (as with the only attack their more powerful forms use) is to generate two balls of energy in their tentacles, and spin around, firing them at one brother at a time. I assume orange represents Mario and green Luigi, but I never really got how this attack works.

They can also duplicate themselves. However, this cuts their health right down (lose half health), and the duplicate gets the other half.

Finally, they can get energy balls from other Napse enemies on the field to use in the first attack.

Experience Given: 100; Coins: 35

HP: 61

Drops: Super Mushroom

Piranha Plorp

Red blood vessel like Piranha Plants, these somewhat gross enemies are also found in the Energy Hold, albeit in lesser quantities than the other two native species. They're weak to all attacks, and despite being a Piranha Plant relative, can be jumped on. Fire does critical damage to these creatures as well.

Attacks

Main attack of the Piranha Plorp is to shoot some gross looking liquid at Mario or Luigi, then aim it towards the other. Jump the stream of the stuff as it reaches each character, otherwise the attack can easily poison.

It can also spit coloured clouds at the top screen which fall and have to be hit away with the hammer. Red for Mario, green for Luigi.

Experience Given: 140; Coins: 55

HP: 165

Drops: Super Mushroom, Softener Gloves

Pep

This is an odd species, coming in three different species with different attacks and abilities. You have SPEED, DEF and POW Peps, all with different colouring, designs and general attributes, and all three are found as a unique enemy in the energy hold. All attacks work against these creatures.

Attacks

SPEED Pep

These have one attack, to appear either in front of Mario, Luigi or between them and charge. If they appear in front, they'll charge a few times. If they appear in the middle of them, they'll split up and charge at both of the Mario Bros. They do a mixture of these patterns about five times.

POW Pep

The POW Pep's attack is to hold it's fists together, then go in front of Mario or Luigi, where it will punch them. Hit the enemy with your hammer to stop the attack.

DEF Pep

These don't directly attack, fusing with other enemies to boost their defense. If alone, they'll change into a Speed or Pow Pep and attack.

Experience Given: 120; Coins: 40

HP: 110

Drops: Supersyrup Jar, No Touch Socks

Air Cheep

A Dark Star Possessed Cheep Cheep, these dark fish are found as common enemies in the Airway, the final inside Bowser area of the game. They float in the air, hence being resistant to hammer or ground based attacks, but are fairly easy to defeat.

May drop Max Mushrooms and Max Syrup Jars

Attacks

Their primary attack is to fly to the top screen, and drop down on either Mario or Luigi. You can tell which, if they fall from the top left, it's probably Luigi, if centre, it's Mario. You have to hammer them away as they land, but they stop mid fall first, and if you miss, they'll attack the same and then other brother afterwards. May stun/daze a hit character.

Their secondary attack is to drop down, and roll towards Mario or Luigi. Hit the cork to counter attack, or just hit them enough to kill them before the turn ends if you're desperate.

Experience Given: 600; Coins: 75

HP: 236

Stonk

A menancing look cloud creature apparently controlled by the Dark Star, these are the second encountered type of enemy in the Airway. They're weak to fire attacks, but can be hit by any possible attack you can think of.

Attacks

Their first and most common attack is to form multiple purple clouds of energy, and circle Mario and Luigi. Hit the right one to end the attack and deal damage, but hit the duplicates to make them vanish.

They also attack by forming rows of clouds and blasting them at the Mario Bros. Jump the clouds to dodge the attack, since you risk getting poisoned if the attack hits.

Experience Given: 630; Coins: 85

HP: 200

Drops: Ultra Nut, Lazy Scarf

Airnapse

Dark Star based versions of the Napse enemies found back in the Energy Zone, these creatures are pretty much palette swaps of the former enemy kind.

They have a tendency to be found floating in mid air to cause trouble for Mario and Luigi when doing platforming or on moving platforms.

Attacks

See entry for Napse.

Experience Given: 610; Coins: 70

HP: 150

Drops: Supersyrup Jar, Doctor Socks

Air Cannon

Green egg shaped creatures manning red Bullet Bill Blaster cannons, these are found late in the Airway section. Like the earlier mentioned Mechawful enemies, you can theoretically do infinite hit damage vs these, due to them running away when the cannon is defeated, and no vanishing until your attack is over. Any attacks will work against them.

Note: They try to run away on the field and shoot you from afar with their cannons.

Attacks

They send out Bullet Bills towards the Mario brothers, and you have to either jump over/on them, or hammer them away, depending on the variant (second is if the Bullet Bills attack from the top screen). However, making it more annoying is the fact that the Bullet Bills turn invisible just before reaching you on some instances, so you have to judge when to jump/hammer.

Experience Given: 670; Coins: 100

HP: 253

Drops: Max Nut, Vengeance Cape

Protobatter

A small round creature weilding a club, these dangerous monsters are native to the Pump Works. It grows when Mario and Luigi attack it.

Attacks

It spits a piece of batter and slams it at Mario or Luigi. Counter with the hammer.

It will also swing it's bat to create a shock wave. Jump over the shockwave.

Experience is 15, coins 5, HP is 35.

Drops: Syrup Jar

Pwallop

A more difficult version of the Protobatter found in the Energy Hold. See information for that enemy to find out attacks and strategy.

Experience Given: 150; Coins: 45

HP: 130

Drops: Super Nut

Boss Battle Mooks

Biffidus

Small tribal molecule things, these are only found in the battle against the boss Durmite. They attack by throwing spears, which must be avoided by being jumped over, and being eaten and spat out by Durmite, which must be dodged in the same way.

Experience Given: 220, Coins: 25.

Straw

Simple obstacle used by Durmite to suck Bowser's HP and restore it's own in the boss battle against Mario and Luigi. Destroy this to stop Durmite restoring health.

Leaf Guy

A turnip holding forest Shy Guy found in the battle vs Wiggler, once eaten by Bowser, Mario and Luigi must defeat them. Use the hammer to counter their attempt to attack by flying at Mario/Luigi.

Junker Can

A rubbish bin enemy, these are found in the battles against Junker/Junker X. They have one main attack, which is to charge at Mario/Luigi, in which they get hammered away. They can also reveal a Chain Chomp, Fishbone or bird type enemy, which must be countered by hammering quickly, when it's in front of you or when it nearly hits you from falling respectively.

Snawful

Snowmen like enemies with Fawful's face that assist Midbus. They try to freeze the playable characters, but if eight are defeated inside Bowser, Bowser breathes out ice which can freeze Midbus' crown and stop any more of these creatures being created.

Dark Satellmite

A small Dark Star shaped spider thing that helps Dark Star, they shoot lasers which can be dodged either by jumping just when it fires (on ground), or standing still (when the Satellmite itself jumps).

When knocked out, they'll charge at Mario/Luigi with a bomb, and can be blasted back to make Dark Star vulnerable to attack.

Random Appearance

Lakitu King

Lakitu King

A Lakitu with a crown, these sometimes appear alongside Beehoss enemies, and can be inhaled by Bowser.

A small helicopter like thing shaped like Fawful (and found quite a lot in cut scenes), these are found only in the Bowser Path while Bowser is fighting Chain Chawful's (rarely). Vacuum them to make Mario and Luigi fight them.

Attacks

On the field, they can summon Chain Chawfuls. When eaten and fighting Mario/Luigi, they can't do anything with this attack.
