New Super Mario Bros Point Gaining Guide by Aaron Blower (AKA 'Stoner' & 'Dr.Aaron')
What is the point of this guide? It's a bit obvious from the title, for you people who've 3 star'd their NSMB profile and are looking for something to do or are stuck trying to get 99999999 points.
So what's the point in getting 99999999 points? None at all, you get NOTHING for your efforts. Believe me, I learned that the hard way. I guess the point is so you have something to brag about, like me. Anyway, it is advised (From me (: ) that you complete the game first and also get 3 stars next to your profile before even atempting this as doing this may impact your enjoyment of 'teh' game. (You'll know after your 2489637589337th go in a single level) Note: Going through the whole game once nets you around 5 million points. (Or was it 500 thousand...?)
Right, now straight to the point.
World 1-1:
The easist level to gain points in and probably the one you'll rely on the most, but it's also the most boring.(At least when you get past your 500th go) The goal to getting a huge amount of points here is the Mega Mushroom, release it from it's box(while running towards) and stand longest possible distance away from it so that the Mega Mushroom lands on your head and the Goomba is right next to you when you start growing. You HAVE TO hold B down just before and during your first few seconds of running/fast walking, as it gives you slight speed boost because you start off slowly, but holding B down you start at top speed. Right, now you'll want to get to the end, if you get stopped, slown, drop down an hole, go the wrong way, quit the level, get slain by the golden Bowser or run out of time you're obviously screwed. Make sure you get that golden star coin in the air for an extra 1000 points! So basically destroy everthing that dosen't make you stop otherwise you won't have enough time. You've got near the end, now what? The answer to that question is in this very guide! (OMGWTF!) Go straight through them stairs made out of bricks and just as you destroy the last coloumn of bricks/stairs you will shrink back to Super Mario Mario (Yes his 2nd name is Mario...) and five green mushrooms will appear, don't touch them at all, go straight to the flag pole so they dissapear... Into points! You get around 40-45 thousand for about 37 seconds of gameplay. (If you speedrun the begining, that is) This is points racked up from path of destruction in Mega Mario mode, time bonus, green mushroom flag pole killing and the possible enemies you kill at the begining to get a fast start. Now onto the next one.
World 1-4:
I can't take any credit for this one, as it was first discovered by Cheat-master 30: "Goomba Farming Go to the last pipe before the flag in level 1-4, the one where goombas come out of the pipe. Bring a shell with you and throw it, while standing relatively near the middle of the area with the horizontal and vertical pipes. Throw the shell and it will kill goombas. But you have to jump over it when it comes otherwise the score resets, so keep dodging the shell for infinite lives."

The difference is though, when it gets to around an 8000 point gain, you will have to jump on top of the Koopa shell to stop it, then reactivate it again by running into it. Otherwise you will start gaining lives instead of points. Rinse and repeat.
World 1-5:
There are too ways in this one, one is pretty obvious and you should know it by now so I'll make this bit shortish, jump on the red Koopa near the begining throw it, then keep up with it. You should notice it killing all the other stupied (Well done, you can spot spelling mistakes ) Koopas down below, netting you a nice sum of points, but they won't die unless it's on screen, so keep up! The next is less obvious but...(Insert something here) Do you know those 4 boxes stacked tightly together about 3/4 through the level? Go to them, and go UNDER them, this way you will keep getting bounced up, hitting them alot which will get you alot of coins, which also gets you quite a bit of points, make sure you also get the red mushrooms that appear after the boxes are worn out, for a total possible bonus of 4000 points! To maximise the amount you get, get a red mushroom (There's one near the begining) so that you hit the bricks more often, and also use the 'mega bounce'. (jump button) Wait don't bother, it looks to me that it is indeed slower, but I can't really tell for sure...
World 1-Castle:
Get to the end as fast as you can, like a speedrun. If you're an adapt Jump man, then you should be able to ccomplete this level with a huge time bonus to your points.
World 2-1:
Get the fire flower and simply shoot all the tall spikey creatures with the fireball from the bottom of them, if you just shoot the head they instantly die and you get less points. And watch out for the time!
World 2-2:
Get the fire flower and progress around 1/8th into the level and Lakitu should appear. basically just camp there shooting the hell out of the spiked shells it throws down, don't get hit and don't run out of time.
World 2-3:
The begining basically, but to be honest, it really isn't worth going through the whole level so you can go on some slide again.
World 4-5:
Go to a pipe where Bob-ombs respawn and keep jumping on them...
World 5-3:
Start level, slide, rinse and repeat.
World 6-1:
Lure several Bullet Bills to the flag site, touch the flag and plenty of points will be awarded to you and in some cases, 1-ups as well.
World 7-2:
I think you know what I'm talking about here, the Koopa opportunity at the begining. Basically own the red Koopa up at the begining then throw it at the green Koopas shaped like... An upside down L! This was obviously put in by the developers by purpose to gain an extra life, but it also gives points. This technique can also be used near the end, just get a green Koopa shell from the 20 availible there, then throw it from the platform in the set of flying Koopas, repeat this for the other side as well.
World 7-3:
Get the star halfway through the level, run fast, and you should notice a wad-load of coins appear behind you, hit other boxes to prolong your stardom, then collect all the coins after your star has ran out.
World 7-5:
Another level to lure loads of Bullet bills to the flag site, be carful about the big one though.
World 7-6:
A level with plenty of Koopas to kill, shell throwing, plainly jumping on, mega Marioing, or blue shelling will help you here.
General tips:
Don't get Power ups unless they are needed, because the time still keeps ticking even while time freezes while you grow into your power up which is wasting points you could get from time bonuses. Don't go to the pause menu and quit the level, you will lose everything you got in that level, and will have to start again, it's better to die instead.
