DS System Specifications

DS Lite System Stats

13.2cm across horizontally (DS Lite)

7.2cm across vertically (screen closed DS Lite)

13.7cm across vertically (screen close DS Lite)

1cm depth (DS Lite)

Notes: Smaller than the original DS Lite by quite a way in both possible ways, the DS Lite is easily small enough to fit in a typical trouser pocket without causing problems. The screen brightness is intense at maximum level, and easily bright enough to light a small area (I tested this in a blackout scenario).

GBA games stick out the slot when played on a DS Lite because it's small size and limited depth in many sides.

System power is about equal to a Nintendo 64 in many ways, and may even be slightly more powerful. Can handle more colours than a Gameboy Colour or Gameboy Advance.

DS Phat (fancier name used on forums for the typical old style DS which looks like what is shown below) System Stats

14.7cm across horizontally

8.4cm across vertically (screen closed)

14.8cm across vertically (screen open)

3cm in depth

Notes: The larger DS version, this also has more limited display options, such as very limited brightness controls. Still has a relatively bright screen though (nothing compared to DS Lite). It is clunky to use as a portable device, but can still handle the same colour depth and processing power as a DS Lite. GBA games do not stick out the typical DS GBA slot.

Both DS Systems:

Wireless range is 30 to 100 feet

260 000 colours can technically be displayed.
