Wario Land The Shake Dimension Characters

Want some information about the named characters in Wario Land The Shake Dimension? Look right below. Just remember though that the boss strategies can be found on a seperate page, and that this only covers named characters, not enemies, random coloured Merfles or anything else. Or stuff from past Wario Land games, sorry.

Wario

Wario

First appearance: Super Mario Land 2 Six Golden Coins

Originally debuted as a nemesis to Mario, Wario has changed a heck of a lot over the years, and has taken part in more activities than you can count. He originally captured Mario's Castle, and brainwashed the inhabitants of Mario Land in Super Mario Land 2 Six Golden Coins, before moving on to be a more heroic treasure hunter in the Wario Land games. Here, he started off opposing the dreaded pirate Captain Syrup (see next character entry), first to try and take the golden Princess Peach statue she stole in Wario Land 1, then just for the money and to take back his castle in Wario Land 2. Since then, he's explored a musix box world, helping a figure that turns out to be the evil Rudy the Clown, explored a strange jungle world called the Awazon in the barely known Virtual Boy Wario Land game and more. He went to the Golden Pyramid in Wario Land 4, and ending up taking a whole ton of treasure and saving Princess Shokora from the evil Golden Diva, defended his castle from the Black Jewel in Wario World and entered the world of television (literally) with a device called the Telmet in Wario Master of Disguise, fighting off rivals in Count Cannoli and Carpaccio, and eventually defeating the evil Terrormisu. In his other business, he runs a company called WarioWare Inc in the WarioWare series, employing characters such as Mona, Jimmy T, Kat and Ana, Ashley, Dr Crygor and 9 Volt and 18 Volt as employees. Oh, and he's been invited to the Mario Kart series, Mario Party series, Mario Tennis series, Mario Golf series, Mario Strikers series and Super Smash Bros series, and even helped Mario and friends defeat Bowser in Super Mario 64 DS!

This game around though, he's firmly on the side of good (or at least, selfish), and has decided to save the Shake Dimension from the evil Shake King for the treasure, including the amazing Bottomless Coin Sack (it's a purse that never runs out of money, guess why Wario wants it).

Captain Syrup

Captain Syrup

First appearance: Wario Land Super Mario Land 3

Wario's arch enemy in the Wario Land series, and practically the only recurring character in said series, Captain Syrup was (maybe still is?) the leader of a gang of pirates based on Kitchen Island. In the first game, she stole a statue of Princess Peach from the Mushroom Kingdom, and various pieces of treasure from faraway lands, and was eventually confronted by Wario in the throne room of Syrup Castle, her at that time base of operations. After summoning the genie, and that being promptly defeated by Wario, she left, destroying Syrup Castle with an explosive.

She later returns in the sequel, Wario Land 2, where she leads an invasion force of Pirate Gooms/spearmen to take over Wario's Castle, and is defeated three or fours times throughout the story by Wario, fighting in various mechanical contraptions. She's also captured by various monsters in this game, in the Ruins under the Sea and Uncanny Mansion. After this, she never returns to the Wario Land series until Shake Dimension, where the prospect of the Bottomless Coin Sack causes her to steal the Globe with said dimension from the local museum (maybe in Diamond City) and send it to Wario, hoping to manipulate Wario into defeating the Shake King and getting her all the treasures without the work.

She succeeds too, managing to steal the Bottomless Coin Sack from Wario in the ending much to Wario's annoyance.

Queen Meralda

Queen Meralda

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

The queen of the Shake Dimension, she is captured by the Shake King and held prisoner when his pirates take over the Shake Dimension. This is her first appearance in a Wario game, and her role is basically the complete same as that of Peach/Daisy/Princess Zelda/Princess Shokora from Nintendo's other games.

Merfle the Merfle

Merfle the Merfle

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

The incredibly imaginatively named character of the entire game, he's the nearest thing Wario has to a semi sidekick in the game, having been the one to tell Wario of the events in the Shake Dimension, inspire him to save them by mentioning the Bottomless Coin Sack... then make a deal with Captain Syrup that leaves Wario without the treasure he came for. Basically a green Merfle who somehow escapes the Shake King's captivity.

The Shake King

The Shake King

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

The new villain of the game, this guy is probably the most fearsome pirate in the Mario/Wario series maybe just after Captain Syrup. He attacks the Shake Dimension with his vast army of Bandineros, who somehow manage to conquer the equivalent of the entire world, and protects himself with the seals generated by the world bosses. He's a formidable opponent, but Wario can take him. He's also basically Wario's eviler counterpart.

Rollanratl

Rollanratl

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

World 1's boss, he's an evil robot built by the ancients who holds up the roof of his temple, and eventually gets crushed flat by the same roof. A more formidable first opponent than most Wario's faced, he's easily beaten, even without taking any damage. No idea what happens to him after this game.

Guards the area Ratl Ruins.

Hot Roderick

Hot Roderick

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

The second boss in the game, he's apparently an evil racing car driver with no real regards to road safety. Found in Wiggly Wilds for reasons unknown, he battles Wario for the second emblem, and after the destruction of his car, is sent flying into the distance and never seen again. What happens, who knows.

Chortlebot

Chortlebot

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

World 3 boss, and officially the third demon clown in the series to date (unless you also count the Golden Diva as clown like), Chortlebot is the sole enemy found in Neon City Circus, and somehow placed in charge of Glittertown/Neon City. In game, he proves a difficult opponent to Wario, albeit not as much as Bloomsday/Scumflower, and eventually explodes dramatically when Wario has attacked him enough to drain away all his lifebar.

Guards the area Rocking Range.

Scumflower/Bloomsday

Scumflower/Bloomsday

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

A giant man eating plant (just how many sentinent plants do Mario and it's spinoffs have now?), Scumflower is the world boss of the area 'Jiggle Jungle'. He's an extremely tough foe to defeat, and nearly manages to defeat Wario, but is eventually sent backwards enough to fall into the water and presumably drown. What happens next is left unexplained.

Large Fry

Large Fry

First appearance: Wario Land The Shake Dimension

Final boss before the Shake King, and the boss most likely to still be alive after the events of Wario Land The Shake Dimension (aka didn't explode, get crushed being a ceiling or drown in a river), Large Fry is... actually, what the hell is he anyway? Some said he's a fish, others a duck type creature... never the less, he's an evil chef riding a frying pan that gets defeated by Wario, and no one knows what happens next.

Found in Quiver Cliffs.
