Wario Land The Shake Dimension Enemy Guide
As many Wario fans know, the series has some crazy enemies, and hey, some are annoying. Wario Land Shake It/The Shake Dimension is no different, and so here is the official DS Ultimate guide on the enemies in the game. Quick bonus: I'm writing the entire thing by memory, because yeah, I pretty much know most of the stuff without thinking.
The Shake King's Pirates
Bandinero
Name Basis: The word bandit. The nero part is probably some kind of Spanish/Mexican association, although why freaking pirates are called this, I don't know.
General Appearance: Pretty much like any enemy Mook from the Wario Land series. You could probably put them right next to Wandering Gooms and Pirate Gooms and no one would notice much difference.

The most common enemy in the game, and the flat out most pathetic in every way. They can't harm you whatsoever (so they're even less adept at combat than Captain Syrup's Pirate Goom/Spearman forces), and one hit with anything will take them out. Or water. Or lava. Or being crushed flat. Or being blown up with bombs.
Useful Tips: They do have one great use as a living projectile weapon, aka to hit switches and the like. And as a projectile weapon which is just the ticket to weaken Bloomsday/Scumflower and Large Fry, the 4th and 5th boss characters.
Random Notes: You know when you're at the bottom of the Mook food chain when you're basically lunch for the later boss enemies.
Pitchfork
Name Basis: It's got a pitchfork on it's head silly.
Appearance: A bandinero with a pitchfork on it's head. What did you expect?

The mask guy equivalent (because they pretty attack exactly like the spear mask things in Wario Land 4), this is the first species of Bandinero that can actually harm Wario. To defeat them of course, defeat in any way other than jumping on their head/running into the fork they've got on their head.
Useful Tips: They can be thrown at a wall to make a temporary platform to bounce off of to reach a higher ledge.
Notes: Number 1 evidence of Wario Land having simple enemy names.
Boomdinero
Name Basis: Bandinero, aka the typical goon, and boom as in cannon.
Appearance: A walking cannon made of steel. Fires spiked mine type projectiles in Wario's direction when it sees him.

An elite solider for the Shake King, these creatures are pretty tough at first (at least in the sense that until you've attacked them by shaking them first, your normal attacks will just bounce off). You can still defeat them in a variety of ways however, such as by picking them up and shaking them to remove their armour and turn them into a normal bandinero, by various explosives or in an interesting case, just throwing another enemy full speed at their face.
Tips: Remember that shaking them turns them to normal bandineros, that will be important in the fourth boss battle.
Notes: They really got creative with names in this game, [/sarcasm].
Nosedozer
Name Basis: Bulldozer and nose, because it's got a massive drill where it's nose should be.
Appearance: Think a small yellow creature with a giant drill where it's nose would be.
A basic enemy, these are pretty much another weak creature, albeit one that can actually harm Wario if you're unlucky. Can't give many tips here, just don't touch the drill and use your other attacks to beat the crap out of it.
Tips: There are tips regarding these things? Seriously?
Notes: A rather boring and common enemy.
Buccanero
Name Basis: Buccaneer? I think a similar word is used to describe pirates.
Appearance: A pirate themed bandinero with a sword.
The most uncommon enemy in the game, apparently. To be fair, I've only seen them in two places, the SS Sweet Stuff, as a sole enemy in a room, and late in the battle against Large Fry. They're quite cool though, and charge at you with a sword swinging. You can defeat them near enough every way you can defeat the above enemies.
Tips: No need, you're pretty much never going to see one outside the intro level anyway.
Notes: Only two levels? These enemies are awesome! But seriously, they should have been more common.
Miscellaneous Enemies
Flipstring
Appearance: A scorpion.

A basic enemy found in various levels, this scorpion type thing is another enemy that requires a tiny degree of thinking to defeat. Normal attacks don't work, because of the shell, but what you do to defeat it is to use Wario's ground punch attack, which stuns the creature and allows you to defeat it normally.
Tips: Once stunned, the enemy can be thrown at various enemies and switches.
Notes: These enemies are the only ones who do not die in quick sand, and that can also, in some cases walk underneath the platform you're standing on.
Name Basis: No idea
Bumbleprod
Appearance: A turtle type creature with a spiked shell. Looks similar to something from the Mario series.

This is basically the second version of the spiny enemy from Wario Land 4, and is defeated nearly the exact same way. You punch the ground to flip over the enemy, then ground pound to defeat it. Kinda like how you defeat half the Mario enemies in existance really.
Tips: You cannot pick up these enemies and throw them, so don't bother.
Notes: Apparently you can find these in slot machines in Glittertown/Neon City. Don't ask.
Name Basis:
Octopot
Name Basis: They're actually called a crackpot apparently, but hey, it basically means they're a crazy octopus thing... in a pot.
A rareish enemy, I only recall seeing these in Gurgle Gulch. They're defeated like any other enemy though, and despite being an octopus creature, apparently can't swim. Weird.
Useful Tips: Watch out, they spit out some form of mine projectile as an attack.
Notes: They come in two colours, red and purple, although there's no difference whatsoever between them.
Volcannon
Name Basis: Volcano and cannon, referring to how they shoot magma/flames from their head as an attack.

An ANNOYING enemy found in Mt Lava Lava and Sneak Peak, these creatures are basically living volcanos that shoot flames from their head. Ground punch attacks don't stun them for long, so my advice is to deal with them as quickly from possible, better yet from a thrown attack that via the shoulder barge attack.
Tips: Ground punch to stun them when climbing those sets of ropes past them in Sneak Peak. Because getting hit while climbing sends Wario plummeting to the bottom of the shaft, wasting a whole lot of time.
Notes: ...
Peek-A-Boom
Name Basis: A combination of Peek a Boo, which is a common phrase to mean finding someone, and boom, since they throw an unlimited supply of bombs.

A bomb throwing ninja (rule of cool anyone?), these creatures are probably more useful than annoying in general, since the bombs they throw are necessary to progress through most levels they're found in. However, if you do want to defeat them, ground punch when they reappear to stun them, then attack. Don't just try attacking as normal, as they will teleport away if you go anywhere near them.
Tips: Use the bombs thrown to solve puzzles.
Notes: As far as I know, only found in Bamboo Village and Boogie Mansion.
Shortfuse
Name Basis: Short and fuse, aka they have a short fuse, and they're cannons, meaning they're quick to anger and attack.
Appearance: A cannon with feet and a lit fuse.
Another basic enemy, albeit one that will be annoying in the battle against Large Fry later in the game. Defeat them as soon as possible by any means necessary.
Tips: Watch out, it's easy to forget they fire projectiles at you when dealing with stronger enemies.
Notes: Meh, not much.
Pengoon
Name Basis: A combination of penguin and goon.
Appearance: A small blue penguin.
An ice area exclusive foe, these pop out of the snow and throw snowballs. They're pretty easy to defeat, and punching ice blocks to send them across the level will probably take out a few along the way.
Useful Tips: You can throw them to defeat other enemies without breaking blocks underneath said targets.
Notes: They can tunnel into the ground when left alone, even when on thin air in some cases! In other cases, like I think ice blocks, they can even be stuck as they FAIL to burrow into the ground. And try repeatedly.
Haunted House Enemies
Recapitator
Name Basis: Since decapitate means to be beheaded, a recapitator is pretty much the opposite, and can freely attach and detach it's head as an attack. Apparently also based on the word reanimation, aka to revive the dead.
Appearance: A blue humanoid skeleton with a head somewhat shaped like a skeleton beetle type enemy from Super Mario World.

A rather tough and somewhat enemy to face, these are pretty much the common enemies of the haunted house levels. The reason for their name is also pretty much something you'll discover, as they actually throw their head as a weapon when they see Wario, and then gain it back like a boomerang. Similar to this, they have an odd pattern where they just crumble into a pile of bones when attacked normally, to reform a few minutes later, like the Dry Bones in the Mario series and the Stalfos in some of the Legend of Zelda series games. To defeat them permanently, let them fire their head at you, then attack the body to destroy it, leaving the head to fly into a wall.
Useful Tips: Kind of not useful, but the Golden Recapitator in Boogie Mansion is the only Golden Enemy that cannot be shaken for lots of gold coins.
Notes: These enemies are pretty awesome in my opinion.
Mummer
Name Basis: It's very obviously based on the word 'mummy'.
Appearance: An egyptian style mummy.
A pretty fat mummy type enemy, these creatures are another common haunted house foe (and found in Disturbing Tomb). They also burp poison gas at Wario, and are some of the tougher enemies in the game, only knocked back slightly by minor attacks. To defeat them, you punch the ground, which causes their bandages to fall off, then attack like normal.
Evil Treasure Chest
Name Basis: There's no official name, this is a guess
Appearance: A treasure chest which looks identical to a normal one, except it tries to eat Wario or enemies whole when they walk near it.
Hey, is that a treasure chest just lying in the centre of the room... Argh! That's probably most people's reaction when they encounter these, just after the small suspicion of what one of the hardest levels in the game is doing with blatantly obvious treasure chest locations. But never the less, these are kinda like false treasure chests, chest monsters that eat your character whole (in the same not immediately lethal way as a Venus Guytrap though). But, before you just run away and ignore them, you NEED to defeat them to beat the game. Yes, you heard me, they actually DO contain the treasures that you'd think they'd contain, just that the way of getting the treasure is kinda novel. You have to get a bomb, and throw it at the treasure chest, making it EXPLODE to get the treasure from it. That's why, in every room in the mansion with these, there is at least one bomb lying around in the same room to be gotten by solving a minor puzzle to defeat these things.
Tips: What more to say?
Notes: Come on, everyone fell for these at least once.
Spinbat
Name Basis: Based on how it's a bat that dives at the ground in a spinning motion.
Appearance: A purple type bat
A purple coloured bat found in some haunted house and cave levels, these creatures are pretty much a very minor threat. Their attack pattern, of course is simply to dive spinning to ground, at which point they'll get stuck for Wario to defeat them in any way possible.
Notes: N/A
Tips: N/A
Jungle Enemies
Venus Guytrap
Name Basis: This plant is based off of the venus flytrap, a popular real life meat eating plant, except the guy part means it eats humans (and other live prey far bigger than insects).
Appearance: A flower.

A harmless looking flower big enough for Wario to stand on, these are found in jungle type levels. They can't really be killed, but never the less, you can quickly jump across the top of them and avoid being eaten, or jump when on one to land on top of the closed lid when it tries to eat Wario.
Useful Tips: You can feed enemies to them by dropping the enemies on the flower. This will near instantly kill said enemy, and in some levels, it is needed to complete a certain mission.
Notes: The purple/pink types close faster than the others.
Note 2: A Venus Guytrap seed is one of the treasures in the game.
Turkeyjerk
Name Basis: It's pretty much the word 'turkey' with jerk stuck on the end of it.
Appearance: A green flying turkey.

A common enemy in jungles, for reasons unknown, these creatures wait in the air and try to dive diagonally at Wario. They're quite annoying to kill, and more so to pick up, but they can be avoided quite easily.
Tips: Shake a turkeyjerk when holding it, and it runs away from Wario, breaking through bricks in it's path. You can use this to open crawl spaces in certain levels.
Scarracuda
Name Basis: Based on the words 'scar' and 'barracuda', the latter being a meat eating/carnivorous fish species. Although they're more based on piranhas, and found in the typical habitat of piranhas.
Appearance: A piranha fish.
A commonly found piranha fish type creature from jungle levels, these monsters are pretty much the equivalent of the crocodiles in Wario Land 4's Monsoon Jungle. You can defeat them if necessary by throwing enemies at them, or by charging into them when running on water with a Max Fatosity Dasherator.
Tips: Charging into them with a Max Fatosity Dasherator will cause you to fail the mission not to touch any Scarracudas in Gurgle Gulch.
Notes: ?
Random/Golden Enemies
Golden enemies are found in various levels in Wario Land The Shake Dimension, and are rare, one of a kind monsters that are, as the name says, glowing gold.
A few things to note first however include:
- Similar golden enemies can be found in The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap, and killed for similarly large amounts of money.
- These enemies do not respawn when defeated until you exit and re enter the level.
You will always be asked to defeat this kind of enemy in any level it appears in.
However, before you try and defeat it, stun the enemy, and shake it to send lots and lots of gold coins flying, allowing you to get a good few thousand coins worth. Never of course miss this opportunity.
