The long awaited sequel to Super Smash Bros Melee, and the latest game in the extremely popular Super Smash Bros series, Super Smash Bros Brawl is looking to be one of the best games of the year, with top notch graphics, excellent sound from past games and characters, items, levels and other stuff galore!

Stages
The stages shown in videos and updates include a wide range of areas from past Nintendo games, which have so far included a Mario Kart race track (Figure Eight Circuit sadly), Meta knight's ship, Yoshi's Island, Delfino Plaza and some unknown settings such as a medieval castle and a Metal Gear type level.
- Battlefield (same old plain level, now with day and night effects)
- Meta Knight's ship
- Delfino Plaza (course moves to different parts of the area)
- Figure Eight Circuit (Shy Guys in karts seemingly come across the track, similar to Mute City level in Melee)
- Yoshi's Island (support ghost randomly appears, seasons change from spring to summer to autumn to winter)
- Lylat Cruise (space ship flies through Starfox type areas)
- Medieval area
- Futuristic type area with steel and the like
- Bridge of Eldin (where you fight on the bridge from Twilight Princess, parts fall and reappear from portals and King Bulblin attacks on this pig like creature and disrupts the battle)
- Smashville- An Animal Crossing level where the Animal Crossing characters watch the fighting. Day and night is determined by the Wii clock, and at 8PM each Saturday, there is a 'live performance'.
- Rumble Falls- A DK Jungle level set near a gigantic waterfall. It scrols upwards and you must climb platforms and ladders to go upwards! When you reach the top, you then go up more platforms on beanstalks.
- Sky World- A floating area where the floor shatters easily. Is the Kid Icarus stage.
- Castle Seige- A castle level. You first fight outside on the roof across platforms while catapults shoot fire, then the floor shatters and you fall into the castle. You can damage the statues here. You then fall down into the underground. No idea what happens after that, but it likely loops around to the roof again.
- Mario Circuit (actually Figure Eight Circuit)- It's a race track based on Mario Kart DS, and you battle while a race is going on. Because of the race however, avoid the various Shy Guys in karts coming from the left and from the back of the screen.
- Warioware- Battle across various mini games and the elevator area (which resembles Battlefield in general layout).
- Shadow Moses Island- A Metal Gear Solid based level. Walls come down now and then, and a Metal Gear sometimes appears from the background.
- New Pork City- An Earthbound based massive city stage. Also, avoid a monster called the Ultimate Chimera, as it can send your characters flying off the stage in one hit.
- Pictochat- A stage based on a chat program? Yeah, and the various sketches become stage obstacles you can battle on.
- The Summit- Based on Ice Climbers, this mountain level starts off high in the altitude, and then slides to the sea. Also avoid a giant fish... which I think may be from Balloon Fight.
- Norfair- A lava type Metroid area, similar to Brinstar. Use the safe area to dodge the lava waves.
- Frigate Orpheon- Another Metroid based level, it flips over part way through the match, so jump when the siren goes off.
- Distant Plant- The atypical Pikmin stage, you throw pellets into onions for items, and must dodge being eaten by the fierce monsters. Oh, and be careful not to stand on the slope when it rains.
- Mushroomy Kingdom- A Mushroom Kingdom level with a twist, this is set in a Mushroom Kingdom which fell to ruin and desert. It scrolls through so you can see the various old land marks, and sometimes loads a version of level 1-2 instead.
- Port Town Aero Dive- An F Zero based track, it's generally similar to Mute City from Melee
- Luigi's Mansion- A level finally set in Luigi's Mansion (the haunted one, not the new one), this has players battle in the various rooms of the mansion while their attacks cause it to collapse in the background. Oh, and the Luigi's Mansion theme tune returns.
- Mario Bros- A level based on the arcade game forced down your throat by Mario Advance 1-4 and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga.
Super Smash Bros Melee Returning Stages
- Temple
- Yoshi's Island
- Corneria
- Onett
- Brinstar
- Rainbow Ride
At least Rainbow Ride got renamed from Rainbow Cruise to it's rightful name. Pity Brinstar is basically another Norfair in terms of stage design.
Items
There are various confirmed items, and they are extremely varied, ranging from bombs to shooting weapons to banana peels.
- Gooey Bomb (sticks to characters and explodes)
- Cracker Launcher (shoots firecrackers)
- Crates and Barrels (now rolls down slopes and hurts those it rolls into. Can be sat on. Theme changes depending on level)
- Banana Peel (does the same as in Mario Kart. If you don't know what that is, figure out what normally happens when someone steps on one)
- Poké Balls (releases a random Pokemon)
- Assist Trophies- Summon a minor Nintendo character to assist you in battle
- Bumper- Knocks around any character which touches like the Melee Flipper item.
- Pitfall- Traps a character in a hole, or, if thrown at them on a platform, makes them fall through it.
- Franklin Badge- Gives a character a reflector shield to reflect attacks.
Poké Ball Pokemon
Chikorita (fires leaves at all opponent characters)
Goldeen (flops around and does nothing)
Groudon (hurts all characters it touches except that which released it)
Deoxys (appears and unleashes Hyper Beam which causes massive damage)
Assist Trophy Characters
- Hammer Bro- Throws Hammers at random opponents.
- Nintendog- Covers opponents screen or something
- Samurai Goro- Hacks away with blade weapons at opponents
- Dr Wright- Makes sky scrapers appear underneath which throws enemy fighters high into the air.
- Knuckle Joe- He attacks his opponents with a whole lot of punches and jabs.
- Demon- Makes the stage scroll to where he is pointing, causing much chaos.
Note: According to official site, assist trophies are invincible.

Known Character Moves
Mario
Mario has been shown to have many of the normal moves he had in Melee, and these include throwing fireballs, slide kicks, kicking opponents and arial attacks. His final smash is the Mario Finale, which causes a massive explosion of flames which devastates his opponents.
Link
Has been shown to do a variety of sword attacks, and uses his bow as a weapon. His final smash move is a move which traps enemies using the triforce and then, after many furied attacks, smashes them out the arena.
Kirby
Kirby can kick opponents, hit them hard with a wooden mallet and also use the sword based final cutter type move from Melee. Final smash move for him has not been shown as of yet.
Pikachu
Not many ordinary attacks of his are shown, but one known to use and shown is his typical thundershock attack from past games. His final smash move is called Volt Tackle, and he turns into a orb of electricity which can be controlled and hits opponents hard on contact. Sadly, if it ends in mid air, he can end up falling to his doom.
Fox
He has been shown to use a dashing based attack which lets him attack at great speed, a fire fox attack where flames erupt around him, and he can also punch opponents the typical way. His down special move is Reflector, and this activates a shield which reflects all projectile attacks aimed at him. He can also use his blaster weapon to fire non stunning shots just like in Melee.
Samus
All that is known is that she can attack with her normal arm cannon beam attack that was in the past games.
Zelda
She can seemingly use typical attacks, and also magic. Nothing else has been shown or said about her attacks.
Pit
His special attacks have partially been confirmed, and they are:
- Standard- Palutena Arrow (fires arrows which go as quick as light).
- Up- Wings of Icarus (Flies through the air with his wings).
Palutena’s Army
This is his final smash. He summons a godess who sends out an army of flying centurians (winged Greek/Roman soldiers) which attack the characters.
Wario
Seems to be able to use the normal physical attacks, and strangely to bite enemies, which is unusual. His side special move is to ride that direction on his motorbike, and he can get off by tilting the control pad the other way and pressing an attack button. Another move is the Wario Waft, where the longer you don't use it for, the more power it gains, and he literally farts, causing a massive explosion if held in for a long period.
Bowser
The Koopa King is back in this game, and looks more awesome than ever! For one, he sure resembles more a realistic version of the Mario version than a godzilla hybrant thing, and he is the most powerful character in the game. He can breathe fire as usual, attack things with his metalic like claws, and his Whirling Fortress attacj from the original seems to have returned. Let's hope he's a better character in this game...
Giga Bowser
When Bowser gets a Smash Orb, he becomes the enormous Giga Bowser, and can smash right through about anything, being totally invincible in this awesome form! Giga Bowser therefore is now a semi playable character, which is cool, and negotiates the need for AR codes. The idea of him being a boss separate from Bowser is unconfirmed though.
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong has returned, and his moves seem pretty similar to in the last game. He can do the attack involving pounding the ground, the mega punch attack as well as pickup characters and move with them.
Final Smash
Uses the Bongos to play music while invincible. I really think this move is lame personally.
Princess Peach
Although not specifically named by the site, she has been seen in a movie on the official site, and has been confirmed to be able to use her parasol. Nothing else is known.
Yoshi
The dinosaur helper of Mario from Super Mario World and onwards has returned, and sadly not much seems known of his attacks, as no screenshots show him currently attacking.
Ganondorf
Indirectly confirmed by an interview. Not much is known about his attacks this time around.
Shiek
Also indirectly confirmed by the same interview as Ganondorf.
Ike
A new Fire Emblem character for the Smash Bros series, he can use various sword attacks like Marth and Roy from the past game could. He has a feared attack called Aether, which can supposedly finish an opponent in one blow...
Pokemon Trainer
A normal trainer from said series. He does not directly fight, but summons his three pokemon to do it for him, one of them is on stage at any one time. The pokemon are Charizard, Squirtle and Ivysaur. Down B is to switch Pokemon. No idea how he keeps up with moving stages.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The Subspace Emissary
This is the new adventure mode of Super Smash Bros, and the Brawl 1 Player one I am assuming. It has a basic storyline (which is not known), and other stuff. However, this is what I have so far realised about this mode:
- You progress through sidescrolling levels.
- You come across many classic obstacles such as Hammer Bros and Bullet Bills trying to attack.
- It looks like there are many Nintendo worlds to explore.
- Some weird robot type creatures are in it, like some form of robot sheep, robot orb things and a weird creature with two cannons as arms.
You fight bosses such as Petey Piranha, Ridley, Pokey, Rayquaza and Taboo
Other stuff
There are also Final Smash attacks which are used after grabbing a Smash Ball item. This causes a mega powerful attack such as Mario's fire attack and Link's triforce attack.
You can enter names like in Super Smash Bros Melee. This allows you to personalise controls for each name as well.
You can use the Wii Remote, Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Classic Control and Gamecube controller to play the game with.
There is now a stage builder option which can be used to create your own levels and random ones get sent out over wifi!
Events are back.
Classic Mode (and maybe All Star) return.
You collect trophies with a coin launcher instead of a slot machine.
Multi Man Melee, Target Tests and Home Run Contest return.
You can choose the various conditions for special brawls and have multiple conditions at once. Like making everyone invisible, fast and metal.
Short demos of Nintendo games called Masterpieces can be played from within Brawl.
Oh, and the whole game is wifi compatible.

Official Site:
This game is probably the only Wii game which has a decent site for all major regions, and isn't based purely on Flash animations, music and gimmicks. To view the official site, click the link below and choose the one for the language you speak (and if you're reading this, you'll likely want the UK or US site).
