The Four Nintendo Games I'm Looking Forward to in 2010

It has admittedly been quite a long time since I've last bought any new video games, with 2010 so far having absolutely zero new games purchased by me.  But later this year, I'm definitely looking forward to quite a few of Nintendo's upcoming games, and here's why.

1. Super Mario Galaxy 2

Obvious one here, if my absolutely massive news post, blog entries, forum posts and game section on here haven't given away.  Basically, Super Mario Galaxy 1 was one of the best games in gaming history (to me, okay?), and if the sequel is anywhere near as great, I'll be playing this for another few months.  Expect information about this game on DS Ultimate around the month of the game's release date, since I have a 99.999% chance of getting it then.

P.S. The trailer already has me sold on this game.

2. Legend of Zelda Wii

Yes, I haven't bought a new Legend of Zelda game since Minish Cap.  Maybe it's forgetfulnes, like my putting off the purchase of a Wii game console until a new Mario game came out (in this case, Super Mario Galaxy was the killer app for the Wii), but I kinda missed out on Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks and kind of regret it now.  Never the less, the whole talk of a brand new type of Zelda game with a revised game structure in general is just what I needed to get me to buy another game in the series.

3. Metroid Other M

The Ten Most Unfortunately Forgotten Nintendo Villains of All Time

Bowser, Ganon, Ridley... Nintendo games have had a lot of awesome villains, some of which have been appeared time and time again in later games with very little more than a handwave.  But what about the endless numbers of lesser known villains, those who never really get their story continued, those who get just abandoned as a character or concept, and those whose reappearance chances border on zero?  That's what this article is about.

1. Tatanga (Super Mario Land)

An old example of a forgotten villain, he actually appeared in the two Super Mario Land games, then never came back for any future games.  Why Nintendo?  Super Mario Galaxy is the perfect series to bring the guy back in as a boss, and yet despite the hundreds of people requesting it, Nintendo seems to completely ignore him in favour of generic Piranha Plant/Petey ripoff #443.

2. Onox/Veran (Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons)

True, they 'died' to let Ganon get revived by Twinrova, but Zelda villains have gone through far worse fates and came back (*Looks at Ganon and Vaati*), yet these villains have never been seen or mentioned again after the Oracle games, as if Nintendo is almost paranoid of promoting characters not from the most mainstream of the mainstream in terms of their series.

3. The Rival (Pokemon)

All about Metroid Other M...

Well, with all the hype surrounding this new game in the Metroid series, and sheer difficulty of finding some of the information online, here's a nice guide to all the stuff we know about Metroid Other M so far, from the leaked intro footage, trailers and other released information:

The Introduction

There's a bit of a recap of Super Metroid in the intro, with the battle between Samus Aran and Mother Brain, including the young Metroid and the powerful beam attack... oh wait, there's a quick zoom across space and a planet exploding before this bit in the intro, but still.  It's a really nice, nostalgic touch.

But never the less, after the usual bit (Samus gets nearly defeated, Baby Metroid sacrifices itself to help her beat said boss), she wakes up in what seems to be a hospital.  She pretty much explains much of what we already knew, ending with her mention of Zebes being destroyed.  And blowing the heck out of Mother Brain with the Hyper Beam.  She then says how Mother Brain was destroyed (duh), the Space Pirates (obviously not all of them, unless Prime 3 and what not is to be mistrusted) and Ridley (that probably won't last long will it?).  She then gets called over (simulation? Training?), and she puts on her Power Suit again.  That's it.

And a quick photo recap here:

There's also a trailer, which can be seen below.  This is officially released I think:
