Mario (series)
From The DS Ultimate Wiki
The Mario series is one of Nintendo's key franchises, and one that was originally started by Donkey Kong back in the arcade days. It has over the years had hundreds of games, tons of spinoff media items and various references and cameos by the characters in other works, and Mario himself is pretty much now known as Mr Nintendo (as well as being Nintendo's mascot).

Other Mario Stuff
Super Mushroom
A red and white spotted mushroom that makes Mario grow if he touches it. When giant, Mario can take one more hit before dying in the original Super Mario Bros games (as Super Mario) or become a destructive force (In Super Mario 64 DS). In Mario and Luigi partners in time, it gives 40hp.
Mega Mushroom
A large, orange, red spotted mushroom that grows Mario to a gigantic size. The mushrooms are also very rare. Thought he is only giant for a small amount of time, you can crush anything on the course. The more you destroy, the more a meter on the bottom of the screen fills up. The higher the bar, the more 1-Up mushrooms you get.
1-Up Mushroom
A green mushroom with white spots. The mushroom gives Mario one life. In Mario RPGs, it can heal fainted brothers to half health. This Mushroom is usually found in hidden ? boxes.
Fire Flower
This flower turns Mario into Fire Mario, and allows him to throw fireballs at enemies to easily defeat them. In later games, such as Super Mario Bros 3 remakes and Super Mario World, this also gives him one more health (turns to Super Mario when hit rather than Small Mario).
Star
These come in multiple types. Normal stars make Mario invincible, defeating any enemy he touches. Stars in Mario 64/DS and Galaxy give him one more star to his total to unlock new areas in the game and Rainbow Stars in Super Mario Galaxy work just like the traditional star does in the Super Mario Bros series.
The Mushroom Kingdom
The Mushroom Kingdom is the country which many of the Mario games are set in. It's a massive place, according to the amount of varied locales in it, and it borders on Beanbean Kingdom and Sarasara Land. Despite what the cartoons say, Mario was born and brought up here (according to Yoshi's Island and Mario and Luigi Partners in Time).
